ESTHER GARZA, 95, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. Garcia passed away Monday July 10, 2006, at a Houston hospital. She was born September 27, 1935, in Brownsville, Texas. Bea was quite simply a one-of-a-kind. She had a remarkable spirit that would bring out the best of anyone with whom she came in contact. Bea found the energy to be positive at all times. Bea was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She attended Lee College and was an avid reader and Civil War history buff. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosalio P. Rodriguez and Angela Rocha Rodriguez; one brother, Reynaldo Rodriguez; pa-ternal grandparents, Juan Garza Rodriguez and Emilia Pacheco Rodriguez; and maternal grandparents, Jose Rocha and Tomasita Brown. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ramon Torres Garcia; two beloved daughters, Elda Condra and Delma Naiser; her very special sons-in-law, William Condra and Ron Naiser; her very close and cherished brother, Rosalio (Charlie) Rodriguez; special sister, Berta Rodriguez; and the lights of her life, her grandsons, Adam and Jacob Naiser. Bea will be forever remembered for her extraordinary love of life, her remarkable character, honor, dignity, and courage. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. and a rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at Crespo & Jirrels Fu-neral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Friday, July 14, 2006, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. William Oliver Celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tomas Garcia, Victor Alejandro, Adrian Alejandro, William Condra, Ron Naiser, and Ruben Garcia. Mrs. Villafranca was born Janu-ary 27, 1917 in El Rancho Ranchito, Tamps., Mexico to Manuel Treviño Chapa and Maria del Refugio Longoria Cisneros. She was preceded death by her husband, Jose Villafranca Garcia; her parents, Manuel Treviño Chapa and Maria del Refugio Longoria Cisneros; and siblings, Luz Arizmendi, Olivia Garza, Santiago Treviño Longoria, Rebeca Garza, Manuel Treviño Longoria, and Gilberto Treviño Longoria. Mrs. Villafranca is survived by her loving sister, Josefina Treviño de Manzano; her loving children, Bart (Connie) Villafranca, Maria del Refugio Castillo, Guadalupe (Arturo) Juarez, Manuela (Candido) Gonzalez, Maria Elena Torres, Eva Leal and Olga Cortez; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. She was a Brownsville resident for numerous years. She is survived by her children, Rogelio Muñiz, Raul Muñiz, Alejandro Muñiz, Gloria Muñiz, Leticia Aguirre, Cecilia Muñiz, and Elizabet Muñiz; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many family members. FISCHER Joe Clay "J.C." Fischer, 74, of Brownsville, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. J.C. was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an automotive mechanic who worked for Bill Bannert and then for Adolph Bannert until his retirement. Preceding J.C. in death were his twin sons, Ronald and Donald; his parents, George and Maggie Virgie Fischer; and his sister, Dorothy Walker. Survivors include his wife, Macaria Ruiz Fischer; his sons, Joe Clay Fischer Jr. and Donald George Fischer; and his grandsons, Kyle George Fischer and Kevin Joe Fischer. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. today, Friday, July 14, 2006, at the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
