The Brownsville Herald - Online Edition Obituaries, July 8, 2006 KENNETH ABBOTT LEWIS Kenneth Abbott Lewis, 68, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at his residence in Brownsville, Texas. Mr. Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Magdalena M. Lewis of Brownsville; his children, Nidia Lewis, Cynthia Rangel, Walter Stevens Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Debbie Lee Lewis, Nancy Lee Lewis, Jennifer Lewis, all of Brownsville, and Kenneth Lewis, Patricia Lewis and Shirley Lewis of San Benito. Also surviving Mr. Lewis are eight grandchildren. Visitations will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 5 p.m. and a chapel funeral service at 7 p.m. today, Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of the Holy Family. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, 3955 Coffee Port Road, (956) 544-1171. MR. MANUEL N. GARZA Mr. Manuel N. Garza, 97, of Brownsville entered into eternal rest at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2006. Born in Brownsville on January 3, 1909, he attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a longshoreman for about 30 years. Preceding Mr. Garza in death is his beloved wife, Maria G. Garza, and his sons, Manuel Garza Jr., Roberto Garza, Reynaldo Garza and Israel Vasquez. Survivors include his children, Sarah Fuentes of Chicago, Ill., George Garza (Stacy) of Gladstone, Ore., Richard Garza of Galveston, Texas, Rogelio Garza (Sylvia) of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Lydia G. Esparza (Vicente) of Brownsville, Texas, Rafael Garza (Linda) of La Porte, Texas and Daniel Garza (Norma) of Clermont, Ga. Survivors also include his brother, Rafael Garza of Tulare, Calif., as well as 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, July 8, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Honored to be serving as Mr. Garza's pallbearers are Richard Garza, Rafael Garza, Daniel Garza, Manuel Esparza, Reynaldo Fuentes and Reynaldo Garza.
