Pedro Gutierrez Jr., 55, entered into eternal rest with the Lord, Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas. He was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, and enlisted in the U.S. Army, May 4, 1971, where he served his country. Mr. Gutierrez was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Gutierrez Sr. Left to mourn his death and forever cherish his memory is his loving family, mother Ninfa C. Gutierrez; wife Aracely B. Gutierrez; children Christina Gutierrez, Carlos (Paulina) Ortiz, Aida Ortiz, Alda Ortiz, Ana (Gerardo) Ocana and Jorge Ortiz; brothers and sisters Maria Ninfa Peterson, Luis Carlos Gutierrez, Rosalinda Perez, Gloria Cervantes, Juanita Munoz, Delia Longoria, Jesus Gutierrez and Gracie Poitinger; and seven grandchildren. Visitations will be held today, Sunday, July 16, 2006, from noon to 9 p.m. with a prayer service with the time pending at Guerra Funeral Home Chapel of Arch Angels. SAMUEL SILBERMAN Mr. Samuel Silberman, 87, born in Lublin, Poland, passed away on July 15, 2006, in Brownsville after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eva, and his two daughters, Marsha (Donald+) Shirley and Jackie (Allan) Nirenberg, and their two children, Zachary and Abigail all from Austin, Texas. He was the general manager for many years of Feder's Fine Fabrics of Brownsville. Graveside services will be held today, Sunday, July 16, 2006, at 5 p.m. at the Hebrew Cemetery in Brownsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in his name be made to Temple Beth-El or to Hadassah c/o 24 Coveway, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Zamora, 87, entered eternal rest on July 14, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. She was born on March 5, 1919, in Brownsville, Texas. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Refugio L. Zamora, of 66 years of marriage. She dedicated her life to take care of her family, especially her disabled son, Sergio Zamora. She was known for her endless love toward her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis Salinas Martinez and Paz Hernandez Martinez, and one brother, Jose H. Martinez. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Refugio L. Zamora of Brownsville; two daughters, Ernestina Zamora of Brownsville, Texas, and Beatriz Zamora (Leonel R.) Mendez of Spring, Texas; two sons, Reynaldo M. (Sylvia P.) Zamora of Helotes, Texas, Sergio Zamora of Brownsville. A devoted nephew, Jose Armando (Rachel) Zamora of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren, Leonel Mendez Jr. of Houston, Cedric Z. Mendez of Spring, Texas, Leticia Laura Gonzalez, Lorenzo Eduardo Gonzalez both of Brownsville, Luis Oscar Gonzalez of Austin, Texas, Ray P. Zamora of San Antonio, Texas, and Omar Zamora of Brownsville, Texas; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Pallbearers will be Leonel Mendez Jr., Cedric Z. Mendez, Lorenzo Eduardo Gonzalez, Luis Oscar Gonzalez, Ray P. Zamora, Omar Zamora, Jose Armando Zamora and Adrian Zamora. JOE GALVAN Joe Galvan, 71, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. He was a Brownsville native and life-long resident. Joe dedicated his life to education and worked with the Brownsville Independent School District for 36 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and photographer. Joe was a friend to all who met him and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Eloisa Galvan, and a sister, Judy Meza. Joe is survived by his wife, Griselda "Kiki;" and two nephews, Victor and Hector Meza of Fresno, California; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday, July 17, 2006, from 4 to 9 p.m. An evening service will be held at 7 p.m., and will be officiated by Pastor E.J. Kennedy. GARCIA Oralia A. Garcia, 72, passed away Friday, July 14, 2006, in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on November 7, 1933, in Brownsville, Texas, worked and retired after 26 years in the food service department for Brownsville Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doroteo and Maria L. Alvear; her beloved husband, Eloy Garcia Sr.; and her brother, Alonso Alvear. Oralia is survived by her sons, Juan (Irasema) Garcia, Eloy (Maria G.) Garcia Jr., from Brownsville, Texas; and daughters, Diana (Arnulfo) Martinez, Elvira Zuniga, and Nora (Charles) Hooks, all from Mesquite, Texas; her grandchildren, Daisy, Juan Jr., Monica Liza, Patrick, Joel, Joaquin, John David, Joanna, Kris, Jessica Lee, Eloisa Marie and Sara Audrey; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Ely, Analee and Ociel; one step-great-grandchild; and her brothers, George Alvear, Samuel Alvear, Antonio Alvear, Dionicio Alvear, Manuel Alvear, Doroteo Alvear Jr. and Roberto Alvear.
