Hi, Harlingen does not have obits that old. They cut off about 1960. I've been there several times finding obits for myself and others. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GhB.2ACE/945 Message Board Post: I am trying to figure out what happened to an ancestor by the name of Ponciano Mendoza, who appears on the 1910 census with his wife Concepcion Torres and their 1 year old son Jesus. By 1920, however, Concepcion was already remarried to someone else and had children through this second marriage. It is a big mystery what happened to her first husband, Ponciano. Descendants of Concepcion and her 2nd husband vaguely remembered hearing that Ponciano had drowned in the Rio Grande, and descendants of Ponciano's siblings seem to recall hearing that he just disappeared and nobody knew what happened to him. There is no death record. I'm wondering if he was missing, if it would have been reported to the police back in those days, or if it would have been in the newspaper. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in California, so going places in person isn't an option for me. Thanks!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GhB.2ACE/944 Message Board Post: I am looking for any descendants of Paula DeLaPaz, either through her first marriage to Patricio Mendoza (the only son of this marriage I know of is Lorenzo (born late 1860's-early 1870's), but I'm sure there are more) or through her 2nd marriage to Fermin Guerra (they had a son Francisco Guerra b. 1872) Also looking for descendants of Margarito Pineda and Lina Perez. Their children were born from the 1870's to the early 1890's. Some were born in Matamoros but they all ended up in Brownsville. Last but not least, looking for descendants of Concepcion Torres b. 1892 in Brownsville. Her first marriage to Ponciano Mendoza produced only one child, Jesus. Her second marriage to Pantaleon Ramos produced many. She lived in Hidalgo County in later years. Hearing from any descendants would be great... I am trying to solve a couple of family mysteries.
