I have just begun to research this Edwards family. My husband's g-grandparents were EMMA L. EDWARDS m. BLANA LEONDA KING abt 1881. They are found on the 1900 Callahan Co, TX US CENSUS. Her birthdate was given on this census as Dec, 1863, Tennessee. She died in Odessa, Ector, TX 1936 at a son's home. She lived in Lamesa, Dawson, TX before that. They lived in Lamesa when he died in 1923 at Lamesa. Death information given by her daughter-in-law shows that her parents were S. EDWARDS & UNKNOWN FREEMAN. She had a surviving brother listed as W.F. EDWARDS living in Rotan, Fisher Co, TX at the time of her death. I believe that her parents were Silas Edwards m. Mary Freeman, 29 Oct 1853 at Gibson Co, Tennessee. I believe that there were many children born to Silas and Mary. Another sibling that I have found is Zachariah (Zachary) Joseph Edwards. Emma was a school teacher for 30 years according to a grand-daughter. I have a report card signed by her about 1914. It was for the Double Mountain School which was near Aspermont in Stonewall Co, TX. Emma was crippled, having one leg much shorter than the other. I know that she taught her future daughter-in-law and also her grand-daughter who was my mother-in-law. I have heard that she also had 2 or 3 old-maid sisters. Any and all information about these families is appreciated.
