Mary Jeanette Sears, mother Mary Elizabeth Carson (Carens) married John Rucker Tanner, father of Mary Jeannette's husband Jesse Hale Tanner. There is a marriage record for E C Sears to R Tanner for Nov 21, 1878 in Callahan Co. (E C probably for Elizabeth Carsons as in 1880 census went by Elizabeth) In the 1880 Census Justice Prec. #1-Belle Plaine, Callahan Co., Texas, Jun 21, 1880 pg 17 family 138 Tanner, Elizabeth, widowed, age 43, farmer, cannot read, cannot write, KY (f-KY m-KY) Tanner, Nettie, listed as daughter, married, age 22, stock raiser, TX (f-KY m-KY) (shows married but husband not list in this household) Tanner, Sisily J, listed as gr-daug, age 9/12, TX (f-TX m-TX) Sears, Alonzo, listed as son, age 14, in school, TX (f-KY m-KY) Sears, Emily, listed as daug, age 19, Idiotic, cannot read, cannot write, TX (f-KY m-KY) Sears, Ida,listed as daug, age 9, in school, TX (f-KY m-KY) Sears, Florence,listed as daug, age 7, in school, TX (f-KY m-KY)

I have been trying to find out where my grandmother and grandfather are buried in the cottonwood cemetary, in Callahan county texas, and if their is a graves registration going back to 1905 and before. I will be glad to send a copy of the picture. I know nothing of the ashabranners.

She wants to help anyone with their genealogy that she can. Winnie and her sister Mozell are in their seventy's but both have very sharp minds and can remember a name and then what they did and then who their families and cousins were, and who did what. Their father, Moses Baum, was the mail carrier for a large area of Callahan CO. F. & Becky Odom - Franzell and Becky are both still living in Cross Plains. Mrs. Odom died some time ago. Although I don't know their mailing address, Cross Plains is a very small town and mail would be delivered to them addressed with their name and Cross Plains, TX 76443. They possibly would be willing to send you information; however they have not been in good health so if they don't reply that might be the reason.

She died in Crossplains, Texas in 1932. Sorry for the mistake. Her daughter Jewel had 3 children, Ted & Forrest Walker and a daughter that is unknown. This information was from my father William L. However, I am not sure if she is the individual you are seeking? But, there are some similarities that I found curious. My Great-grandmother was Dora Louise Breedlove, borne June 1, 1856 in Bell County, Texas and died May 10, 1948.( Her mother was a Mary Lou Turner, the second wife of her father( ??? Breedlove) whose first name is unknown. My great-grandmother married William R.C. Shipp on Dec. 8, 1872, Bell County, Tx., And had the following children: Sons- Hirman Luther Shipp, Walter M. Shipp, Benjamin J. Shipp (My Grandfather), Claudius S., Winfrey Shipp., Alvin Shipp, Daughters: Ira Shipp, Jewel Shipp (Born in April of 1897) and Nolia (All deceased now). If you think this could be the the Dora your looking for I will be glad to offer you what other information I have about her.

    3. A genealogist should have lots of tools in his/her bag of tricks. Here's one of mine: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Simply type in a name (cemetery, etc) and see what happens. The info from the above site appears at the end of this msg. I actually cheated- I already knew that Lost Creek Cemetery was in Brown County. By the way, this cemetery is listed at the Brown County page at TxGenWeb by its other name, which is Hog Creek Cemetery. I also recommend that anyone who lives in Texas buy a copy of "The Roads of Texas." This book is available at most book stores, I would think. It is invaluable.
