    1. Henry and James Woods Family (1880-1905) - Some Questions on Caldwell County Records
    2. Brett F. Woods
    3. I'm looking for information on the family of my gggrandfather Henry J. Woods. This is what I have on his family: HENRY J. WOOD(s) was born 1826 in North/South Carolina, and died after 1880, probably in Luling, Texas. He married MARY "POLLY" WINGO 1845 in South Carolina, daughter of JOHN WINGO and MARGARET THOMPSON. She was born 1822 in South Carolina, and died 1886 in Luling, Texas. The children of HENRY WOOD(s) and MARY WINGO are: i. JAMES H. WOODS, b. 1847, Spartanburg, South Carolina. ii. SARAH E. WOODS, b. 1846. iii. JOHN B. WOODS, b. 1849. iv. WILLIAM BERRY WOODS, b. 1850; m. MARGARET KING JONES, 11 April 1882, Greene County, Tennessee. v. THOMAS J. WOODS, b. 1854. vi. LUTHER "LUKE" WOODS, b. 1856; m. SARAH JONES, THE SISTER OF MARGARET JONES.. vii. MARGARET C. WOODS, b. 1857, Spartanburg County, South Carolina; d. 1916, Boswell, Oklahoma; m. NOAH SANFORD HOARD, 1882, Greene County, Tennessee; b. 1856, Greene County, Tennessee; d. 1928, Comanche County, Oklahoma. viii. ROBERT H. WOODS, b. 1858. ix. NATHAN WOODS, b. 1851, South Carolina; d. 23 October 1931, Denison, Grayson County, Texas; m. FANNIE ADA BURRELL, 1875, Texas; b. 27 August 1853, South Carolina; d. 03 February 1930, Denison, Grayson County, Texas. I descend from James H. Woods through his son Leroy, as follows: JAMES H. WOODS was born 1847 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He married BARBARA ELIZABETH FOX 04 August 1870 in Greene County, Tennessee, daughter of ISAAC FOX and RACHAEL CRADDOCK. She was born 1839 in Greene County, Tennessee. The known children of JAMES WOODS and BARBARA FOX are: i. LEROY WOODS, b. 28 February 1878, Greene County, Tennessee; d. 10 July 1941, Humble, Texas. ii. RACHEL WOODS, b. 1873. iii. MARY WOODS, b. 1876. LEROY WOODS married IDA MAE EGNEW 08 February 1905 in Luling, Texas, daughter of JOHN EGNEW and MATILDA THOMPSON. She was born 30 December 1882 in Luling, Texas, and died 10 December 1961 in Humble, Texas. Now, these are the questions for which I am searching for answers and I would appreciate any suggestions: 1. Is there a 1900 census listing for Caldwell County, or some tax listing for 1890? 2. When did the recording of deaths begin and where are those records located? 3. When did the recording of will/probate records begin and where are they located? 4. Is they any listing for graves in Caldwell County? NOTE: I know my gggrandmother Mary Polly (Wingo) Woods died in Luling, so I assume Henry Woods also died there. Further, I know that their son (my great-grandfather) James did not moved to Humble TX with his son Leroy, so I assume he, too, along with his wife Barbara, died in Caldwell County, probably around Luling. Since there are my direct ancestors, if possible, I really would like to locate their graves and any records that may document their time in Caldwell County. To this end, I would sincerely appreciate any comments. Brett F. Woods Santa Fe, New Mexico
