I can understand the census taker maybe thinking he was told Leander instead of Lee Andrew. The 1880 census in Burnet Co, TX lists Leander Drake as being born in Tennessee and being 10 years old. The 1900 census for Milam Co, Tx lists Lee Drake as being born in June 1870 in Tennessee. His wife,s name is Martha. It says they had been married for 5 years which would agree with the marriage of Leander Drake and M. A. Drake on Apr 18, 1895. I have a copy of the Application for Social Security Number for his son, Monroe Carol Drake, which lists his father as Lee Andrew Babe Drake and his mother as Martha Amenida Smith. He could have named his son Monroe Carol Drake after his grandfather James Monroe Drake. I think there is a strong possibility that Leander and Lee Andrew Drake are the same person.
