    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. First off, Karylon A. Russell, just about had it with the Judge Joseph Pullen. His wife was of course Mary Ann Pogue (1826-1879), and she was the older sister of Eliza. They married 24 Nov 1846 in Greene, Tennessee. If you look at the 1860 census you will see Eliza and her younger sister Martha are living with the Pullen's. Their father was Farmer Pogue (yes, it is his name, and named after his mothers family, the Farmer's), and they were from Tennessee, Green county to be exact. Farmer died in 1849, and you will find his wife, Lavina Lindsey (1799-1850) in the 1850 census, but they were mistakenly listed as "Page" and not Pogue. Anyhow Lavina (LoL, imagine if you named your daughter Lavina today) died in 1850, and I have to assume all the children moved to Burnet, county, Texas? We know from the 1860 census that Eliza and Martha did, but besides Eliza (16) and Martha (10), there was a James (13), and Thomas (5) shown in the 1850. I have more details, and if anyone needs it ! just ask. As to the Coons, they are my relatives, and both Richard Stevens Coon and John Marion Coon were my gg granduncles. Their younger sister Margaret is my gg grandmother, and married James Oliver Norred in 1861. What's interesting is that Margaret's younger sister, Frances (Fanny or aunt Nan as she was known) married one of my great granduncles, George Cullen Arnett (those of you talking about the "The Texas HooDoo Wars" should recognize the Arnett name). James Oliver Norred and George Cullen Arnett were half brothers sharing the same mother, Elizabeth Warren Norred Arnett. My great grandfather, George Cullen Norred was named after his uncle George Arnett. They rode together during the great cattle drives with Geo Arnett being one of the top trail bosses. Some of the Coons also worked the drives. Their Parents were John Adams and Martha Stevens Coon, and they arrived in Burnett county (Hairston Creek) in 1853 via Louisiana we think, but it could have been Arkansas, and they moved around a lot, with each of the children being born in different places, my gg grandmother being born in Mississippi for example. They were originally from South Carolina, but I haven't actually found John Adams father or mother yet, but I have a warn possible trail that goes back to Switzerland and a Kohn (pronounced like coon or koon) who arrived in the late 1700's. Still digging and I have some on Martha Stevens, but not a whole lot. Anyhow they were very educated folks and Richard, John, Leander, and Margaret all taught school. Richard became a Dr at some point I believe. It is his son Richard (Dick) Coon is the "Uncle Dick Coon" in the threads conversation. Richard married a Kate Pankey and she is buried in the Norred cemetery along with Leander Coon, his wife Frances Virgina Gildart, an! d their daughter, Jennie, who died shortly after birth. The Norred cemetery is the old Hairston Creek cemetery. When the Coon's moved into the area in 1853 it was still called the Hairston Creek Community at the time (about 5 miles SSE from Burnet, Texas). As to Richards wife, Lucy M Roberts, the M was her name in the marriage before Roberts, and I think her maiden name was something like Ladis, and I would have to look it all up. Anyhow, it can be deduced from the evidence that Lucy got around, right.
