I believe I ran into you at the Texas State Archives and Genealogy a couple of years ago and you were quite helpful then. Thanks for the continuing info on Elizabeth Simpson. I am pretty much convinced that the legends of her being a "witch" are pretty much urban folklore, and pretty recent folklore at that, brought on by the spooky insciption on her headstone. There may have been hangings outside the cemetery, but this would not have been incidental to anything concerning Elizabeth Simspon, I don't believe. I also have similar dates for Elizabeth Simpson and Elizabeth Spencer, which is odd. But Vol 1 of Williamson County Cemeteries (in the Scheyli Cemetery) show them as two different people. Somewhere I think that there was an error in transcription. There are also 2 different graves at the cemetery. Anyway, I will send you all I have here in a moment, Please feel free to share.
