Author: HL2604 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.burnet/2795.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: FYI, Texas mandated vital records effective 1903. Compliance with the law lagged for several decades thereafter. Occasionally, I find people who expired in 1950s with no official record of death. There are a scant few death/burial certificates 1903-1920 and none earlier. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Fry, 25, born in Massachusettes, to father born in Kentucky, mother in Pennsylvania, farmer Elnora, 24, born in Indiana to father born in IL, mother in Indiana Lucy C, 4 Allie E, 3 There are a number of posted familytrees containing Lucy...BUT I on DAILY basis find wrong information in them, so be very careful when using them. A lot of people just post the info into their own family trees without verification. One tree, the Fry Family Tree has photos and source material to include photo's of her grave stone: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/26238411/person/1809967130?ssrc= You can access this tree if you have an ancestry membership, or at your local library IF they have the library version, then on their computers using your library card number for access. The owner of this tree is a Randal Fry..a family member. I sent him a message to read this thread...hopefully he can help. --I did download the attached photo of her, marriage certificate and gravestone. The owner of the tree may have actually taken the photo and can advise further Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Fuzzface Surnames: Green, Abel Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.burnet/2797/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Is there a member of the Smithwick Church of Christ who would be willing to go through the church records to look for information on surnames Green/Greene and Able/Abel? I'll gladly pay for your time. My great-grandfather, Samuel Lawson Green (probably shows up as S. L. Green) was a member and did some preaching. His sister, Malinda K. Abel was also a member. Lawson Green left Cocke County, TN, early 1883 and was in Smithwick by Aug 1884. He was back in Cocke Coumty by Oct 1887. So I'd like to have records from 1883-1887. Hindsight is always 20/20! Believe the young lady born in San Antonio had a different mother based on her other posting? From your words, I'm guessing you got up close and personal with your mom? Did you have similar relationships with her siblings? Family secrets are seldom known to only one person. Have you made inquiries about your heritage via uncles, aunts, and cousins. Vivian L Noble from Buna and Center was my mother. I've been doing some research for reason as I am looking for my real father who was ironically from San Antonio. Are you still searching for information on her on her? My mother was very secretive and it would not surprise me if she had a child and used a fake middle name and then gave one up for adoption...but this could be a leap of judgement. Have you had any luck on this trail? I hope your still checking on this... I was stunned to find this post.
