Possible his father was from Tn, hence the Tn. suggestion, but again, she could have been sent there to have the baby with relatives of the family. God knows how many times that has been the case, (mine including). I thought of the name Babe being that no name was given for a while also. The stories our families could tell us, if they had all just kept daily diaries. My mother did just that thing for the first 4 years of my life. Reading back on her thoughts back then is a total pleasure. I turned out to be a lot like she thought I would be, funny how that happened. She told me I was her favorite. I come to find out that each one of us were told we were her favorite. She is such a wonderful mother, and I tell her she is my favorite too. Bravo! If there are lies on the social security card application, it is obvious where they originated! Okay, two brothers (Monroe and Oscar) have been connected. A third, Thomas Andrew Drake (16 Sep 1886 - 11 Nov 1969) has errors on his death certificate regarding parents. One possible "connector" is his birthplace: Granger, Williamson, TX. Monroe's death certificate indicates he was born in Andice, Williamson, TX. That's the location of this family's early beginnings? Additional support can be found in 1910 Williamson-Precinct 2-District 119-Image 11. The surname incorrectly interpreted as "Leake" along with given names for: Thos (Oheo), Monroe (Morine), and Henry (Louis). Shoulda hired me? Even my tired old eyes can do better! Okay! Back to essential matters. At some point in time, Jack Monroe Drake became Monroe Carol Drake? He registered for WWI Draft In Hill County as Jack with same birthdate, 11 Dec 1895. The brothers must no! t have been patriotic 'cause he was the only registrant found. The fourth brother was William Henry Drake-SSDI: 18 Feb 1899 - 6 Jul 1994. His wife Ida L. also listed on SSDI: 1 Mar 1904 - Oct 1989. Both received last benefits in Belton. In 1930 Bell-Precinct 7-District 33-Image 8, find Tom A. Drake(44) living with younger brother William H.(32). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. On Monroe Carol Drake,s death cert. parents are listed as Babe Drake and Martha A. Smith. He is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville, Bell Co, Tx. There is an Oscar Ernest Drake died Jan. 8, 1975, death cert also states his father was Babe Drake, mother not listed. Oscar is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He was never married, per his death cert. I believe he may have been Monroe,s brother. There is an Alice Rachel Drake born 7, May, 1904 in Granger, Tx who list her father as Babe Drake and mother is just Martha, could be a sister. I could not find what happened to her. There is a Thomas Andrew Drake died in 1969 buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, per his death cert, his parents were Tom Drake and Martha Madden. Talk about confusing. I believe if you could ask someone who does lookups for the Pleasant Hill Cemetery on find a grave, it might shed some light on a connection. I found some other things while searching. you might be able to find something with a connection. Hope this helps. I can understand the census taker maybe thinking he was told Leander instead of Lee Andrew. The 1880 census in Burnet Co, TX lists Leander Drake as being born in Tennessee and being 10 years old. The 1900 census for Milam Co, Tx lists Lee Drake as being born in June 1870 in Tennessee. His wife,s name is Martha. It says they had been married for 5 years which would agree with the marriage of Leander Drake and M. A. Drake on Apr 18, 1895. I have a copy of the Application for Social Security Number for his son, Monroe Carol Drake, which lists his father as Lee Andrew Babe Drake and his mother as Martha Amenida Smith. He could have named his son Monroe Carol Drake after his grandfather James Monroe Drake. I think there is a strong possibility that Leander and Lee Andrew Drake are the same person.
