Aunt Sissie, very nice! I don't have any connections but enjoyed seeing what you did. For those looking for the service and/or the reg't history, be sure to try the Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ Confederate and Union. If you find your man, be sure to click on Right History and the list of others who served (might find a relative there). By reading this you may be able to determine if they were in hospital or prison, etc. Trevia Wooster Beverly Houston, Texas 15th annual Texas genealogy conference: http://www.angelina.edu/genealogy/genealogy.html ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <TXBURNET-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 22, 2011 5:28 PM Subject: [TXBURNET] 150th Anniversary War between the States > Author: auntsissie > Surnames: Whitaker, Bolch, Faubion, Yett, Click, Gray, Campbell, > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.burnet/2772/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Since 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the War between the > States, I am working on a project of all my grandfathers military service > along with any history of their families related to the circumstances > where they were living or serving. They are on USCensus records in 1900 in Chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory (OK)-- Kemp, Bryan Co. OK. By 1910, Mary is a widow. I have a photo of Clay, taken about 1906. I am trying to find individuals who may have been former students, or had parents / grandparents that were former students at that time and place. The teacher for this particular class was named Flora Kate BOLT. Flora Kate was born 9-2-1906 in Burnet Co, TX. She died 5-29-1945 in Dublin, TX. She married Harvey F. CARR on 8-24-1940 in Stephenville, TX. All of the selected photos that were sent to me came from Bettie Cavanaugh in Santa Fe New Mexico. She obtained them from Barbara Oaks in Oklahoma who was the step-granddaughter of Harvey Carr. Upon his death she came into possession of Flora's photos and then passed them to Bettie, who has passed them to me in hopes of finding family. Flora Kate Bolt evidently was a teacher and taught school at Kingsland. Most of the photos are labeled "my boys", "my girls", "my pupils", etc. and were taken when they went on picnics or other outings such as those around the bridge on the Colorado River near Kingsland. The photos are small and there is no real info on any of the album pgs to go by. There are only 2 that have names on them, and I'm hoping someone will recognize the names and be able to identify others in Flora Kate Bolt's class (or her friends or family). The 2 photos that are named are: Mary Beth BRADLEY (a small child in photo), and "friend & pal" Miss Ophelia WILLIAMS, Kingsland, TX. I will in the near future, post the unknown photos on the Llano Co web site but in the mean time I am hoping someone will recall the names and contact me, the Llano TXGenWeb County Coordinator. You may reply here, or, via my address on the Llano Co website: http://www.txgenweb7.org/txllano/ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Naomi was a very famous hairdresser in Hollywood for many years. She was a friend of Ozzie and Harriet's and started working on their tv series. Naomi gave us Farrah Fawcett's famous look and finally retired when production of the Love Boat wrapped up. She can be found on IMDB.com Just one more fun and cool story to go along with all those dates and names that everyone collects....I prefer the stories myself. It was with Nathan's first wife that William resided after the death of Harriet. Her name was Sarah Augusta Powers. For some reason, unknown to us, Sarah remained with the children and her father-in-law in Burnet, TX but Nathan is not with her. I found a marriage certification for Nathan and my great-grandmother, Mary (Molly)Callison in Burnet where my grandfather was also born, Ollie(Olly) Alexander Cavin. This all occurred before the death of Sarah so we assume there was a divorce (I hope). Molly was 26 years younger than Nathan and appears to be only 12 years old at the time of the marriage, 14 years old when she gave birth to my grandfather. Between 1880 and 1890 we lose Molly Cavin and we find that Nathan is living in Rodeo, NM with Ollie. Nathan is buried in a family plot alongside Byron H. Cavin (assumed to be his son) and Ida Callison Cavin sister to Molly. After the deaths of Molly and Nathan, Olly moved up to Douglas AZ but returns to Rodeo where he married his first wife Beatrix who died when their daughter Tacoma was a small child. He then moves Tacoma up to Scottsdale AZ with family. There he married Mary Ellen McGowan, my grandmother. They moved to Riverside CA after WWII and are both buried there. If you want the list of family names and dates in this line of Cavin please send me a note and I will forward what I have.
