The spelling of Somerville was my mistake. Years ago in interviewing an elderly relative, it was stated Summerville, when I looked on the road map even with my maginifier I could not make out the spelling. Since I got the information from more than one elderly relative about the murder of Albert Gowen I assume the "News" came out of Somerville. I live in St. Louis,Mo. so I never get to TX. I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions to verify this story. The time frame is 1863 (birth year of the last child of Nancy and Albert) to 1870 where Nancy appears with children in the Wayne Co.,Mo. Census. There is one other story that may have a connection to this, and that is Albert and Nancy had a son called Washburn who was supposedly killed in the Civil War, I haven't been able to get any records from the National Archives on him as a Union Soilder, so as many others from the county he may have been a southern sympathizer. In the 1850 Census he is listed as George W.. It may be his father came to collect him or his belongings??? There are no burial sites in Wayne Co. for either of them. Also I've never located Albert and Nancy in any Mo. 1860 Census so they may have been in Tx. Thanks again it's nice people like you that make this so much fun. Karlyn May
