I was looking up the name "Green Herndon" and it brought me to this message board. Was wondering if you might have any biographical information to share about Green Herndon. The Handbook Of Texas Online says he was lynched in a violent way in Rusk County for harboring abolitionist sentiments. This would seem to correspond to the same man, him having come to Texas from the Northern states a few years before the Civil War. Thanks very much for your kind attention. David W. Swafford
