I am looking for a connection with the Lester family in Washington or Burleson Co. BF Lyon was married to Mary A Carrington dau of John and Sarah H Lester Carrington. John died in Washington Co in abt 1848, and Sarah was in the household of Oliver P Carrington in the 1860 census of Washington Co. Josiah Lester that received an original land grant in 1836 was Sarah H Lester Carrington's brother. They came from GA. I found a Josiah Lester in the 1860 census in Milam Co, TX, but thought he might have come through Burleson Co on the way there. We have a connection with the Warner Lewis family and the Jesse Lyon Family in GA. Jesse was the father of B F Lyon, and think the mother of BF was Mary Lewis dau of Warner Lewis. And that James Lyon that married Mary Lewis' mother was the father of Jesse Lyon. Would appriciate any help in this matter.

Bills SB861/HB1778 seek to make birth records remain closed for 75 years. Currently they are closed for 50 years. This makes it increasingly difficult, and for some impossible to research their lineage and family history. DD214 legislation is also being passed in a futile attempt to stop identity theft. There is a petition online but if you would rather develop your own, that is fine, too. The link to it is www.petition-them.com ,then click on human rights tab. Please help us to stop the government from taking away access to our heritage. We would appreciate you signing the petition and/or contacting your state Representatives and Senators regarding this issue or any other help. Thank you for your support. ( John Brunson ) McKEEN appears on the 1880 Kimble Co., Tx. census next door to my Delphia COOPER . This gets confusing . Delphia COOPER has a daughter , Mary that married a John W. BARROWS b. abt. 1835 NY father : Ny mother Ireland, about 1874/75 possibly in Kimble Co., Tx. ( court house burned ) . Since Hugh McKEEN was from NH and children born in NY , I'm hoping for a possible connection . John W. and Mary COOPER BARROWS were also in Coleman Co. at least from 1876 -1880 . I have not been able to find any substance on John W. BARROWS before his marriage to Mary COOPER . I did find Hugh McKEEN in 1840 Allegany Co., NY and two BARROWS families in Niagara Co., NY . I also have found land records where Delphia COOPER sold land to Bruno McKEEN in 1880's Kimble Co., Tx. By chance do you know of any connection no matter the time between BARROWS and McKEEN families ? Did the McKeen family come to Texas by ship ? Thanks for any help you may give . Phyllis

I haven't been able to prove or disprove any of it yet, I've just recently started on this family. From the 1880 census in Burleson Co, TX I found the following children: Henry (7), Franklin (5), Mary (3) and baby. The baby would be my husbands grandma, Annie Lucille Dawson Scott. She was born March 5, 1880 in Caldwell, Burleson Co, TX. She married Will Thomas and they had seven children. She died November 27, 1947 in Chappell Hill, Washington Co, TX. I can send you info on the children of Will and Annie if you'd like. Email me at sthomas79@juno.com. This is my husbands family and no one has ever "collected" any family data. I have one cousin who has volunteered to contact other cousins to see if any records are around in the family. I'd love to hear what you have on Tennie. Thanks for replying! Hope to hear back from you.
