Spoke with an uncle and he stated that Lemon was killed. In addition, my ggrandfather Sam Poole was married to Reecy Watson and was also killed. These families migrated from Johnston County, NC to Texas. Haven't found any info on Sam and Reecy Poole yet. Any info on these families would be appreciated. Just starting on this side of family. My grandmother, Arlena Poole was born about 1910, so I believe that they were in the area before 1910. Thanks, Ginger

I am making some headway with the Zachariah California connection. The letters back and forth between Eliz (wife of Andrew Woods) and Georgia provide some insight. Also a picture of Walter V in Georgia's belongings make me think that Zach went to California before the Civil War. Will try to get up to Santa Rosa next week and look at some records there. Still trying to find out where John Dickenson is buried though.

They are in Tarrant Co.,Tx. before 1900. On the 1900 census it shows 10 children born, 6 still living. Three of those 6 are still at home, Rufus 19, Clyde 16 and Alfred or Alford 14. Who and where are the other 3 children? I'm trying to make a connection here for my grandmother. My grandparents were Omer Reed b. 27 Sept. 1872 and Lara (Brymer ? ) b. 24 Sept. 1875. I remember my father saying she was a Brymer. John & Amanda and Omer & Lara live in the same precinct in Tarrant Co. in 1900. Lara would be 25 years of age. Could she be one of the three children of John & Amanda's that has already left home? I'm hoping someone in Burleson Co. might know something about this family. All four of my grandparents died before I was born in 1945 so I know very little about them. Any info. would be appreciated very much. Thanks, Marvin Reed

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EhB.2ACE/1049.2.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Rhonda, With many sons and husbands in the service of the Confedracy, the wives and mothers had a hard time. Some of them required help from the county governments. "Confederate Indigent Lists" or censuses were kept by a number of counties. I'm not sure of the date of these lists, probably about 1863. I have a relative listed here as serving in State Troops. In another document, he says that he "joined a regiment of state troops which was made up in Burleson County. We were in Moran's Batalion." He gives as a date, August 1863. Later, he writes, "I was elected County Commissioner. I had charge of collecting tithes for the widows and orphans until after the war." I hope this helps. If I get the chance to go back to Caldwell soon, I'll try to get a date on this list. Good luck, Bobby

Wilcox (40) in the 1860 census with E. Wilcox (19) and William Wilcox (1)). He was married to Caroline Griffen on 26 Dec 1872. The marriage certificates say Burleson County. I don't know if they both divorced or they both died but since he is shown as a Widower in the 1880 census at least Caroline had to have died. Anything you can find would be greatly appreciated. In either case, I have checked for the name of Calvin Wilcoxen and have found that indeed he is listed as serving in Co. G, Burleson County Guards which was raised by Captain John W. Hood. According to author Chance, he was not listed as ever being wounded or captured. Other than listing personnel serving in this company, there is no other information available regarding his name but there are descriptions of battles that transpired during the war. Good luck!
