I would like to know if there is a Death Certificate for Richard Griggs, Sr. "Dick Griggs". He would have lived and died in the Burleson County area between 1855 and 1930. I would like to get death information on Eliza Gregg. I know that she passed 11/26/1940 and she was born c.1839. Also, Amenia Crockett (spelling may be Crochet and she may have had a nickname "Meekie"). Thank you, Leslie Griggs

There are Moseley buried in Oaklawn Cemetery at Somerville, which is not in the Brazos Bottom area...the names are Festus Moseley, 1900-1981 and Hermiene Moseley, 1897-1986. There were Moseley's in the Brazos Bottom as they ran a ferry over the Brazos River which connects Brazos and Burleson Counties. There is a Moseley Cemetery, near the Brazos Bottom area of Burleson County. It is also known as the Draper Cemetery. None of the readable tombstones in this very small cemetery are for Moseley. Of course, there could have been some at one time. There are several Moseley's buried in the Booneville Cemetery in Brazos County, though Boonville is not in the area of the Brazos Bottom, either. There are also several Mosely buried in that county in various cemeteries. There are a couple of obits for Moseley in my book, "Caldwell Newspapers, Obits & Births, 1897-1929." Is your question pertaining to a white Moseley family or Negro Moseley family? I have to check other sources if it is Negro.

Surnames: Sims Holloway Eubank Rose Chatham Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EhB.2ACE/1072.1 Message Board Post: Did you ever get any information about Virginia Holloway Sims? I'm sure my father has told me about Virginia Holloway Sims, but I don't remember the details and haven't dug through his papers yet. If you still want any information that I find, let me know. I may be totally wrong, but I think we are still in touch with her line through jointly owned land. I think Rowland is one of the names. At least I know for sure that my Great Aunt Mamie Sims talked about Rowland frequently. Whether or not his last name was Sims or Chatham, I don't know, but that would have been the Hollowy line. Aunt Mamie was J. R. Sims daughter by "Sister" Mary. J. R. Sims was my great-great grandfather by his son's second wife, Margaret Rose (Eubank?) Sims, and my Grandmother Virginia Rose Sims was born in Tunis. We still own land near there although I now live in Virginia, ironically enough, just east of Louisa County. Margaret Rose Eubank Sims' great great grandfather Robert Rose, lived here in Richmond before the Revolution and is the oldest identified ! grave in St. John's Church (that's where Patrick Henry gave his "give me liberty or give me death" speech).
John Dickenson Middleton was my great grandfather and old family letters indicate that they migrated from MS to that part of Texas after the Civil War. Dr. Parks A Middleton was his brother and the only indication of his presence in Burleson County is an entry in Volume A [1858 - 1898] Index of Survey Record Book on page 89 where PA Middleton is listed. I am trying to find the grave of JD Middleton and something about Parks. I know that his widow shortly after his death wrote my great grandmother from McDade which is not in Burleson County but I understand that the county lines of some of these counties were realigned after the Civil War. Any help, guidance etc will be most appreciated. If any are interested I will share what Information that I have on the two brothers. There might be another brother or cousin Benjamin in the mix but really don't know yet. Have a great holiday season John Sammons
