His parents must have died when he was young because he was living with a sister and her family. They moved to TX and lived in Palo Pinto County. He married Sophenia Josphine Holder in 11-9-1866 in McCulloch County. They moved to Brown county (later Coleman county). They had 5 sons and one daughter who died as a infant.
