Kristin Taylor 16 and Katie Taylor 9. Both of Greenwood died after their car collided with a semi-trailer at 1:00 PM Tuesday 2.5 miles east of Midland at the intersection of Texas Highway 158 and County Road 120, said Sonya Harrell communications supervisor for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Midland. The parents of the two girls are Mike and Judy Taylor, both of whom are teachers with the Midland Independent School District. The two girls were both students at Greenwood schools- Kristin a junior at Greenwood High School and Katie a fourth grader at Greenwood Intermediate School." We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and want to express our sympathy to the Taylor family" said MISD Superintendent Robert Nicks " Our thoughts and prayers are with them."Midland County Justice of the Peace George Zimmerman pronounced Kristin Taylor dead at the scene Tuesday at 1:40 PM Harrell said. Katie Taylor was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital after the accident and died there at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Harrell said. Kristine Taylor was driving a 2001 Ford Escort south on CR120 Tuesday when it collided with a tractor trailer traveling west on SO 158 driven by Hector Aranda of Midland Harrell said Aranda was not injured in the accident. Harrell said the truck struck the car on the drivers side and drugged the car more than 200 feet before coming to rest with the truck on top of the car. I can't say I ‘ve ever seen a worse accident than this one Harrell said. Wayman Swopes , pastor at Greenwood Baptist Church where the family attends Church, said a fund is being established for the family to help with this tragedy. Judy Taylor is currently waging against cancer. "This is one of the finest families you'll ever meet, both loving parents."Swopes said" Judy was diagnosed a little over a year ago with cancer, so they've been hit hard emotionally and financially." Judy Taylor is currently on medical leave from Midland High School where she is employed as a language arts teacher, said Barney Welch MISD executive director of communications services. Ronnie Elmore, principle at Alamo Junior High School where Mike Taylor teaches social studies and history and coaches eighth-grade sports said a fund would be taken up at Alamo, Midland High and Greenwood schools when classes resume next week." This is a very sad situation," Elmore reflected Wednesday afternoon. Greenwood High School Principle Scott Knippa said the school would observe a moment of silence for the family next week when classes resume."Kristine was involved with band, a straight A student, just a great kid," Kippa said.
