Surnames: Epperson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DhB.2ACE/983 Message Board Post: I'm trying to locate his burial site for possible inclusion in the second volume of _Texas Burial Sites of Civil War Notables_. We are interested in him because he was the subject of an article on p. 298 in Frontier Times, Vol. 6, No. 7 (April 1929) entitled "Newsy, Who Saw Lincoln Assassination Lives in Brownwood". In the article it's written "President Lincoln and his party proceeded into Ford Theatre, leaving the newsboy that was standing near the entrance staring after them. The newsboy was J.W. Epperson, 11, now a 75 year old carpenter of Brownwood, one of the 2 or 3 surviving persons who saw Lincoln assassinated".The article relates how Epperson saw the actual shooting and how Lincoln's physician had him "running back and forth carrying medicine for Mr. Lincoln". Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreicated.
