Hi Susan, I am also researching Foster's in Brown Co. Texas. It is quite possible that your James P. Foster was the brother of my William Henry Foster. William was born in the Dubuque area of Iowa(actually in Clayton Co.). His brother, James, traveled with him to Texas. (James was born in co. Fermanagh, North Ireland) William Henry Foster married Nancy Jane Jackson on Nat 11, 1877 in Comanche Co., Texas. He was a well driller. The family lived in the general area until a little after 1900, when William died (I don't know exactly when or where). Wife Nancy and children moved to southeastern Arizona. I have a James Foster living in Blanket, Brown Co., Texas on the 1880 census. He lived a few houses from Wm Foster and his wife and child. Wife was ME, born abt 1844 in Georgia.
