Sorry am not familiar with Benjamin Hill, but Lake Brownwood was my childhood home. Everyone knew of Byrd's Store, though we generally reached it by boat. Am not certain of the spelling either, but thought it might help to consider both ways as we had families of Byrd's all around the Lake area in the 40s, 50s, & 60s. Hope this helps.
