Mrs. Elizabeth Bowden died Wednesday (February 26, 1919) at 12 oclock following a prolonged illness. The remains were shipped to Rising Star where interment took place at one oclock today. Mrs.(Didama) Elizabeth Nowlin Bowden was born July 6, 1838 in Bedford county, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Nowlin, who made their home in Tennessee until 1870 when they moved to Moreland, Arkansas. On June 17, 1858, she was married to W. S. (William Sebastian) Bowden of Arkansas. About twenty years ago they moved to Texas, locating in Brown county. About three years ago Mr. Bowden died in Rising Star and Mrs. Bowden moved to Brownwood to make her home with her son, A. F. Bowden and family, where she died yesterday. She was a devout member of the Methodist church and when her health would permit was a regular church attendant. She was a sweet Christian character and one who was ready to face her Master. She leaves two daughters, and four sons and a large number of grandchildren to mourn her loss. The children are Mrs. J. N. Green of Amarillo, Mrs. P. V. Gibson of Amarillo, W. J. Bowden of Eastland, M. T. Bowden, W. C. Bowden and A. F. Bowden of Brownwood.
