I was born in Brownwood, TX and am a descendant of Cornelius Roberts, born about 1749. He rode with Daniel Boone. He lived in Virginia. He was killed by Indians while digging for ginsing root. I have access to lists of all my Robert ancestors since Cornelius. My grandfather's grandmother was Mary Roberts (who married a Hancock) whose father was Nathan Roberts, whose father was Cornellius. We think Cornelius Roberts came from Wales via England. Billie Sutton Jefferies Albuquerque, NM
Hi, Just saw your note to TX-BROWN digest and thought I'd say hi from another Central-Texan now living in New Mexico. I was born in Goldthwaite but grew up in Early - however, my wife was born in Brownwood. We came to Los Alamos in 1964 to work at Los Alamos. We're now retired and living in the Jemez Mountains. Do you know any others from Brownwood, Early or there abouts. thanks, jim mcclary Jemez Springs, New Mexico
My grandmother Floyzell is the only person in my direct lineage to have been from the Brownwood area. She left there in about 1921 or so when her mother Dovie Strawn passed away. My grandma had 7 siblings all are passed on now. Her twin was Roy Dell (maybe one worn Roydell not sure) their nicknames were Punch and Judy. Then there as Willie (everyone called her Billie) Winnie, Velvia Severa (she had very bright red hair and i was told she was kind of the party girl...loved to dance the charleston and was good at it I knew her when I was a child and young adult she loved to drink Coca Cola and play bingo in her final years), Georgia, and her two older brothers were Noble and Elder. All were born with Roberts surnames. My grandma married Norman Powell From Colorado( he passed away a few years ago). They had two Daughters Tresha and Linda. My Mom Married an Evans and I married a King. My neuclear family have been in California since WWII or there abouts.
