Posted on: Brown County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Brown/699 Surname: Blake ------------------------- Does anyone know for whom the Blake oil fields in Brown County near Cross Cut were named? My father was orphaned in about 1905 and lived with relatives named Alec and Isabel Blake for a while. They were ranchers. I have never been able to trace Dad's early years or any of his family. I just thought that the name Blake in Brown County might be a connection to his folks. Also, I was curious as to why the Brownwood Museum has a collection of MacArthur memorabilia. Did Gen. MacArthur ever live there? TIA, Maria
Blake Oil fields were named after the small community, Blake. Who the town was named after I'm not sure. ----- Original Message ----- From: Maria B.
