    1. [TXBROWN] Lees in Brownwood
    2. Hi Becky & Patsy; Both of you were so nice to respond. So far I don't recognize either of your LEE family from my family names. I have copied parts of a book called Free Masonry in Brownwood, TX. It's a great resource for early Brownwood residents. When I went through Brownwood 20 years ago, I was able to visit my LEE family's cemetery out at the old Lee ranch. There were lots of other Lees there that I DIDN'T recognize. I am descended from Ephraim Lee b. 1787 in Greene Co., TN and had 7 children: Henry, George Lilburn, Gresham, Naomi Williams, Brooks Williams, Lucinda and James Young. I am descended from James. From what I can tell all the children emigrated to the Navarro/Brownwood area. Gresham and Brooks W. were instrumental in settling Brownwood. I know very little of my James Young Lee and am looking for any information on him. He m. Matilda Bowman. Thank you for your help. ---Lorraine Hellow Lorraine! Yes, I am looking for LEEs in that area.   My John LEE married Elizabeth COLEY/COLLEY in Robertson Co. abt 1872 (that is when the marriage applic. was obtained - when they were actually marr. I don't know)  .  "Lizzie" was born abt 1847 and I don't know when John was born.  I've been told that John had 3/4 Indian blood - but others think it came from Lizzie - this from a LEE/SMART researcher.   known children of the above: Robert Kenneth LEE born 1885 Brown Co. marr. Leona "Ona" TUNSALL b. 1885 - they were marr. in Brown Co. in 1902.  (Robert was a barber and owned a business in Kern Co., CA after 1918)  Ona's mothers maiden name was COUCH.    Mollie LEE marr. a TUNSTALL also. 3 other LEE sisters married SMART men.  Anything sound connectable?   Becky ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Since I have a Lee family connection, I will send you what I have. However if we don't connect I will be glad to do some lookups for you on your family if you will send me some information.  I live in Brown Co., and go to the courthouse and Library quite often.  We also have an LDS Family Center here.  I haven't really done any research on the Lee side of this family because I am connected to the Harris family that married into this Lee family. The Lee that I have is Angus Nicholas Lee (haven't even gotten his birth and death date yet), married Hannah Bell Harris 7 July 1901, d/o Marcus Lafayette Harris and Zillah Bee Pittman, in I assume Brown County.  They both are buried at Mt.Olive Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Mills County.  Their children were: Tulley Peter, 1902; Angus Paul, 1905; Hannah Arabella, 1907;  Willie Drusilla, 1909 (still living);  Marcus Joseph,1913; Malcomb Jacob, 1913 (twins).  Have pictures of most of the families. This is my mothers family and I haven't done much research into it.  I have been concentrating on my husband's family. Hope to hear from you again and good searching,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Patsy Johnson in Brownwood
