    3. Excerpt from the book "Early Communities of Lake Brownwood." DAVID BAUGH David Baugh was born December 9, 1803, in Georgia, where he married Pense or Pency Collins, who was born December 16, 1816, and died September 8, 1895. Soon after they married, they moved to Alabama, where the first three children were born; Alabama in 1836, Mack M. in 1839, and Mattie Elizabeth in 1840. They again started west, but stopped in Mississippi, where Levin P. Baugh was born in 1842. When they reached Texas, they settled in Kaufman County, where the oldest daughter, Alabama, married William Williams in 1854. All but the last child was born in Kaufman County, and she was born in Brown County in 1859. Dave and Pency Baugh were one of the first settlers to bring their family to Brown County and settle on the east side of Pecan Bayou. He also was one of the first commissioners in Brown County, being elected in 1862. David did not get to enjoy his new home long, as, in 1868, he took a fever and died on February 20 of that year. Pency Baugh continued to live in the same place as the survey was in her name, but on the map it looks like "Percy" Baugh. Levin P. and W, Morgan, her sons, also pre-empted land near their mother's original claim and kept adding to it until they became the largest land owners in this part of the country.
