The still is quite a bit of oil production in this region.

I research my grandfather Samuel Waye Brown and my grandmother, Mary Wadsworth both from Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma. Joan Case has my "Brown" family on the World Tree Project at Ancestry.com and my cousin Bobbie Cole has the Barr-Wadsworth Family Tree going so I just scan and send them the info as I collect or receive it from snailmail sources. It was probably just an oversite or I might have typed the name Brown so fast it came out wrong and I just didn't notice it. Annmarie BlondiNativeAme3@Netscape.net

I have never been able to connect John BOWDEN 1777- 1872 who married Anna Stone, from Lawrence Co. TN to any one of the WILLIAM BOWDENs anywhere in North Carolina. There are at least three that I know of and all are born about the same time. One of these I have listed as the son of William and Betsy Travis BOWDEN. I had his birth as 1742 then change it to 1733. I have children for him as James 1765-1843 married Priscilla Williams; Josiah 1770 married Nancy Spencer, Sarah 1773; Simon Travis 1775 married Mary BRADFORD; and John 1780-1845 married Lorena LOURNEY. Another WILLIAM BOWDEN born 1745-6 in NC married Martha first then Mary. died in Conecuh Co. AL on 01 Feb 1821. There are extensive papers on his estate settlement found in Randolph Co. NC Historical Society Journal in 1982. Children: James 1804, John died 1849 Richmond Co. NC: Travis, Josiah 1805; Pleasant who lived in Alabama; Mary 1770-before 1812 married Gideon A. MACON; Patsy married John MACON; and Elizabeth married Isaac ODELL. Also in Maury Co. TN was William BOWDEN born about 1742 died 1834. Have been told his wife was Martha, but I have nothing that proves this. He drew a Rev. War Pension from there and I have his application. In this application is his death date sent by son James BOWDEN, who states he is the only living son of this William BOWDEN. This lets our John completely out of this family because he was still alive at the time this William died. Joan, none of this fits the William BOWDEN you said died in Coffee County, TN in 1842. Sure do wish someone could straighten out all the WILLIAM BOWDEN's for sure, so that I know I have them right. Every time I get this information out and look at it again, I get confused with them all.
Excerpt from the book "Early Communities of Lake Brownwood." DAVID BAUGH David Baugh was born December 9, 1803, in Georgia, where he married Pense or Pency Collins, who was born December 16, 1816, and died September 8, 1895. Soon after they married, they moved to Alabama, where the first three children were born; Alabama in 1836, Mack M. in 1839, and Mattie Elizabeth in 1840. They again started west, but stopped in Mississippi, where Levin P. Baugh was born in 1842. When they reached Texas, they settled in Kaufman County, where the oldest daughter, Alabama, married William Williams in 1854. All but the last child was born in Kaufman County, and she was born in Brown County in 1859. Dave and Pency Baugh were one of the first settlers to bring their family to Brown County and settle on the east side of Pecan Bayou. He also was one of the first commissioners in Brown County, being elected in 1862. David did not get to enjoy his new home long, as, in 1868, he took a fever and died on February 20 of that year. Pency Baugh continued to live in the same place as the survey was in her name, but on the map it looks like "Percy" Baugh. Levin P. and W, Morgan, her sons, also pre-empted land near their mother's original claim and kept adding to it until they became the largest land owners in this part of the country. David and Pense Baugh's children were: 1. Alabama - born 1836, M 1854 to (1) William Williams, (2) a McReynolds, who was killed by indians. 2. Mack M. Baugh- b 1839 and died in the Confederate War 3. Mattie Elizabeth- b 1840, M 910 Don Cox (2) Sam McInnis 4. Levin P. b 1842, married Frances E. Mosley, daughter of Dan. 5. Amanda - b. 1844, married George Adams 6. Amazon - b. 1847, married (1) Malachi Cox, the father of Marion Cox and (2) Sam Windham. 7. Pency Baugh - b. 10 January 1850, d. 19 June 1861 8. David S.C. (Kaufman) - b. 1852, m. Susan Mosley 9. Washington Morgan - b. 1854, m. Cam Zado Burnett 10. Jessie Oscar -b. 1856 11. Emily A. -b. 1859, d. 1905, m. W.H. Sloane 12. Mary C. - m. Press Brewer 13. Mitchell - m. Mildred Wright. The following Baughs are buried in the Roberts Cemetery: (this cemetery is on private land but is accessible) Baugh, Frances Elizabeth (Mosley) 26 April 1850--27 January 1936 Baugh, Levin--28 October 1842 Baugh, Pency L. Collins wife of David Baugh 16 December 1816--8 September 1895 Baugh, David -- 9 December 1803--20 February 1868 Baugh, Pency D. daughter of D. and P. 11 October 1850--19 June 1861 Hope this is helpful, Patsy in Brownwood

I believe either the courthouse or library in Brown County has a list of all WW1 vets that were drafted in WW1. Otherwise your local LDS family history center may be able to order microfilm copies of them. Check the catalog section of familysearch.org for the number. Bob Evans
