Going by the 1880 Ellis County Census for ages and family members, I found the following two marriages; McGowan, W.H.(possibly William H.) to Boynton, Clara April 30, 1891 Book B pg. 46 McGowan, B.E.(possibly Becky E.) to Walk, A.B. March 7, 1883 Book A pg. 110 I can find no other references to McGowans in Brown County Texas. Sorry, I could be of no other help.

I checked Brown County marriages from 1880-1950, but did not see any of those names. There was a Gladys McCullough married to a W.C. Taylor Apr. 2, 1932, Book 11 pg. 596, but was as close as I came with the exception of a James L. McCullough married to a Esther May Windland Feb. 6, 1945 Book 18 pg. 328. There were a number of individuals with both spellings (och - ough), but the given names did not match. There is a James P. McCulloch buried in Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood 4 Dec 1848 9 Nov 1888. Apparently, by the comment in the letter that I have SOMETHING was very wrong in her life. She had so many things happen to her in her short lifetime. According to ancestry.com she is enumerated in: Year: 1900; Census Place: Brownwood, Brown, Texas; Roll: T623 1615; Page: 7B; Enumeration District: 4. And it appears that she is household 142 144 I also did some more checking on George B. Savage. He is found in Brownwood with his family in the 1900 census, his father was Hiram. And in 1901: Grantee: George B. Savage Patentee: George B. Savage Patent Date: 25 Feb 1901 Acres: 160 District: Milam County: Stephens File: 1335 Survey/Blk/Tsp: NE 1/4 66 Patent #: 524 Patent Volume: 2 Class: Blind Asy. What does Blind Asy. mean? It is VERY possible that this might be referring to my Kate. She had her eye kicked out by a horse when she was younger.
