    3. Hello Patsy, I would be very grateful if you would look in your book of biographies of "Early Communities of Lake Brownwood" for the surnames of Duke and Foster, plus Simon "Jim" Jackson. Thank you most sincerely, Vynette Sage in Arizona

    2. Patsy, Does this book mention any of the Harrell's? First name's I'm particularly interested in are Fate (Layfayette), Phoebe Ann, and Ruben Jerome. Also are there any Lewis' mentioned? Kathryn Sterling Herrmann

    3. You are right about the footnotes, I am the the worst when it comes to documenting my own research and i find myself going back and looking for something in a place where I've already been. All the cemetery postings I've sent to this list have been from a book called "Early Communities of Lake Brownwood", a history of the first families who settled in the northern part of Brown County between the Pecan Bayou and the Jim Ned Creek. This book was compiled by Pattie Lee Cross Weedon and was updated in 1980. There are some very interesting biographies about these early settlers. Some of the women of these families are especially interesting. If you would like me to check to see if someone may be from your family just let me know and i will see if I can find them for you. Good searching,,,,,,,Patsy Johnson,,,,[email protected],,,Brownwood, Tx.

Posted on: Brown County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Brown/687 Surname: Bush, Ellison ------------------------- Brandi, Lost Creek Cemetery is also known as Hogg Creek Cemetery and is in Northern Brown County. Here are my directions as if you started from Brownwood. (Lost Creek Cemetery) (Hogg Creek Cemetery) - East from Brownwood 0.5 mile on Highway 67-377, turn left on Highway 183 N, 17 miles in Town of May at caution light turn left on County Road 411, 5.8 miles on right. On the Cemetery listing for Brown County's GenWeb site "Windham Cemetery" (which is in a different location) was put in front of the name "Lost Creek" and made it almost impossible for someone to find on that list. Maybe someone who has a copy of the cemetery listings for Brown County will help you with a lookup. Hope this helps you! Eva Bush Brownwood, TX

    3. Hello, I think that all the genealogy "family" should share whatever information they have access to. Granted, someone receiving this information should always, when possible, make a foot note to show where the information was obtained to give credit to the proper person. There have been so many times since I started researching that I have found something on the internet that would be most helpful to me; but cannot access the information or a person either would not reply to my request for help or outright refused my request for help. I think all should remember the "old golden rule"; "do undo other others as you would like them to do unto you". There are individuals that cannot afford to make trips to research or cannot afford the cost of purchasing cd's, etc. (I fall into this case) and it would be so helpful if people would share information. It just may get down to an issue of those who write these books for profit, could be violating some kind of privacy or otherwise blurp when writing about YOUR family. Scanning all pages and posting isn't a good idea, in respect for someone's work but typing information from the book about your or someone elses' family, should be okay. Hope this makes sense. 3. The following message was sent to me and below it you can see my response. Don't misunderstand, my intentions are not to undermine the hard work of those that contributed time and effort to complete the cemetery record books. In fact, I think everyone that helped, in all aspects, should get credit for their long hours of dedication to genealogy and history of Hamilton County. My ancestors have only been in the Hamilton area since 1880 and I know many of yours have been there even longer. Whatever records we can dig up should be for anyone interested or involved in the county. from: Betty Cole Wienke (in the following you'll notice that only Pittman and Hengst show credit for the Cemetery Records of Hamilton County, TX) > Ric, I checked "Volume 2, Cemetery Records of Hamilton County, TX. Pittman > and Hengst, published 1996, Honey Creek Cemetery, pages 769-795. Directions: > From Hamilton's square take Hwy. 281 north about 10 miles to Olin, turn left > on F.M. 219. Travel 3 miles north on F.M. 219, turn right on Co. Rd. 120. > Travel 2 miles on Co. Rd, cemetery is on the right. Open gate and go about > 1/2 mile to cemetery. Cemetery is barely visible from road." > > Ric, if you will send me your mailing address, I will scan and land mail the > pages of Honey Creek Cemetery to you. Then the following came from Carlian Pittman: > > Ric: The book Cemetery Records of Hamilton County, Texas is > > copywrighted. Betty Weinke is not allowed to copy the pages from the > > book on Honey Creek Cemetery and send them to you. > > Carlian Massingill Pittman > > President > > Hamilton County Genealogy Scoiety Then my response: > Carlian, > > I know she can't copy the book by scanning the information or using a > xerox machine to copy it (because of the copyright), but she can read it > and tell me what she read by sending it either e-mail or snail mail. > > Ric So..... all this boils down to one thing. Should anyone and everyone have access to the cemetery records of the county? AND, if someone were to buy the book, do they then have the right to put the information on the internet? After all, they bought the book. It then belongs to them. Let me know what ya'll think. I already know what some of you are going to say but I want to hear from more of you. Perhaps some of you that actually did the work on the books but have never gotten credit. Fred (Ric) Gordon Williamson Co., Texas By the way folks. Just so you know I do have SOME interest in Hamilton, though small, I went to school there but dropped out of high school in 1962 and joined the Navy. I haven't always been very smart. :^)
