    1. [TXBROWN] Re: Tragedy Strikes FISK decendants
    2. Tragedy strikes family with FISK ancestors. This family is decendants of Greenleaf Fisk from William A, Fisk first son of Greenleaf & Mary Manlove. Genealogy is not important at this time. If you would like to help this family The address is Greenwood Baptist Church Benevolence Fund c/o Mike Taylor 10908 FM307 Midland Texas79706 Copied from the Midland Newspaper Friends and family grieved as Greenwood family lost 2 daughters in an auto accident Tuesday afternoon. Kristin Taylor 16 and Katie Taylor 9. Both of Greenwood died after their car collided with a semi-trailer at 1:00 PM Tuesday 2.5 miles east of Midland at the intersection of Texas Highway 158 and County Road 120, said Sonya Harrell communications supervisor for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Midland. The parents of the two girls are Mike and Judy Taylor, both of whom are teachers with the Midland Independent School District. The two girls were both students at Greenwood schools- Kristin a junior at Greenwood High School and Katie a fourth grader at Greenwood Intermediate School." We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and want to express our sympathy to the Taylor family" said MISD Superintendent Robert Nicks " Our thoughts and prayers are with them."Midland County Justice of the Peace George Zimmerman pronounced Kristin Taylor dead at the scene Tuesday at 1:40 PM Harrell said. Katie Taylor was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital after the accident and died there at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Harrell said. Kristine Taylor was driving a 2001 Ford Escort south on CR120 Tuesday when it collided with a tractor trailer traveling west on SO 158 driven by Hector Aranda of Midland Harrell said Aranda was not injured in the accident. Harrell said the truck struck the car on the drivers side and drugged the car more than 200 feet before coming to rest with the truck on top of the car. I can't say I ‘ve ever seen a worse accident than this one Harrell said. Wayman Swopes , pastor at Greenwood Baptist Church where the family attends Church, said a fund is being established for the family to help with this tragedy. Judy Taylor is currently waging against cancer. "This is one of the finest families you'll ever meet, both loving parents."Swopes said" Judy was diagnosed a little over a year ago with cancer, so they've been hit hard emotionally and financially." Judy Taylor is currently on medical leave from Midland High School where she is employed as a language arts teacher, said Barney Welch MISD executive director of communications services. Ronnie Elmore, principle at Alamo Junior High School where Mike Taylor teaches social studies and history and coaches eighth-grade sports said a fund would be taken up at Alamo, Midland High and Greenwood schools when classes resume next week." This is a very sad situation," Elmore reflected Wednesday afternoon. Greenwood High School Principle Scott Knippa said the school would observe a moment of silence for the family next week when classes resume."Kristine was involved with band, a straight A student, just a great kid," Kippa said. Those wishing to assist the family through financial donations to cover funeral expenses may send checks to Greenwood Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, c/o Mike Taylor 10908 FM 307 Greenwood Texas 79706. Those wishing to contact the church may call 915- 682-4188 and Swopes said he can reached at either 901-528-6965 or 915-684-8449

    1. [TXBROWN] Dr. James "Fred" Harrell
    2. Evelyn, Have you read the delightful story that Kathryn Hermann posted on the Rootsweb Brown Co. TX. website? An ancestor of Kathryn's, Dr. James 'Fred" Harrell wrote a book titled Missouri to Texas by Covered Wagon 1884. It mentions a Lafayette in it. Perhaps you'll find some useful information in it. It is a wonderful story of what life was like resettling in Texas during the 1880s. Dianne

    1. [TXBROWN] Harrell Family
    2. Dear Gatekeepers to the Past ,       I am Evelyn in Texas . My grandmother was Laura Harrell . Daughter of Ephraim Harrell  E.H. ( Ephraim ) Harrell was born 1820-1825 in GA. His parents were born in North  or South Carolina  , possibly. Census records & family memories are conflicting. My dad never met his grandparents. I never met any of my grandparents. This information was the only information that we found . We only knew of Grandmother & her brother Lafayette Harrell , I checked  records & found my grandmother on the 1880 Census of Robertson County , Texas , 1860 census & 1850 census in Jasper County, Texas. Ephraim married Elinas Anna ? . Anna was born about 1830 in MS. Ephraim & Anna's  children were known to be: Laura born 1867   Lizzie born 1870 Lafayette born 1874 Mary Jane born 1860 Melvina born 1862 Joe born 1864 Thomas Hennin born 1848 John I . born 1850 Benjamin born 1855 Mary born 1857 Susannah born 1852 . 2. Hello, Nannie Harrell also died in 1884 soon after arriving in Brown Co. with her family from Buffalo, MO. She was the sister of my great-grandfather, Fred Harrell. We have been unable to find any information about her death-I believe she was 13. Are there any local or regional church or civic publications extant from that time period that would have documented an epidemic or carry obits? 2. Leah, The earliest Watson that I have is Thomas Watson that died in 1810 and married Coatesworth. I know they probably had other children, but the only one that I show is Mary "Polly" Watson b. Jul 23, 1780 in Richmond VA. She died 1853 in Lumpkin, GA. Mary Polly married Anselem Andrew Roe b. 1772 in NC. I show 12 Children for these two: Thomas W. b. 1800 Nancy C. b. 1801 Watson C. b. 1803 Sarah H. b. 1805 Elizabeth "Betsey" b. 1807 Hanna W. b. 1810 Frances J. b. 1812 David Jared b. 1818 Kiciah b. 1820 Mary "Polly" Cosby b. 1809 Anselem A. b. 1815 John B. The next connection that I have with this family is through their oldest son Thomas W. Roe that married Amy King they had a son John Kenning Roe. The above is my Roe and Watson connections. I also have Watsons that married Baileys from the Brown County area, too. Hope this helps! Sandy
