Funeral services for Mr. Jack Shafer, 71, of Rising Star, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Heflin Cemetery in Brown County under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home. Mr. Shafer died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 in the Songbird Lodge Nursing Center in Brownwood. He was born Dec. 22, 1929 in Owens to Jessie Clyde and Faye Elizabeth (Bowden) Shafer. He married Joyce Laverne Horton in 1953 in Oregon. He has lived on this area all of his life. He worked as a tree trimmer and was a Baptist. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Mata of Brownwood, Deborah Walden of Lumberton, Veronica Manous of Fort Worth; three sisters, Dorothy Hinesly of Rising Star, Peggy Kelsey of Marion, Ark., Betty Wallace of Colorado City; a brother William Michael Shafer of Wisconsin; four grandsons; one granddaughter; one great granddaughter and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife.

It will also give you her parents, any older siblings names and where each was born..... Good Luck!
