Folks, I just wanted to let you know Christmas has come early to the Autrey home:) If you are not interested in this report, please delete. Last month I ordered some books from the New Boston Genealogical Society in New Boston, Texas. Within a week, I had the books and was harvesting information from them. The books I ordered I really didn't know how beneficial they would be to me, but I ordered them anyway. I ordered the Family Group Sheets and Pedigree books. I am amazed at all the families included in them, and even found some connections I need to complete some of my own files. I highly recommend them. Today, I received the books I ordered last month from the Texarkana USA Genealogical Society in Texarkana, Texas. It took a little longer to receive these books as mail is picked up only once a week and then the mail is handed to different people who have their own duties within the society. I am very pleased with the information from these books as well. The Federal Census books are very well done, and I look forward to using them with the census CD's I have ordered. These books will be a tremendous help to me. I also ordered the Bowie County Texas Historical Handbook by the Bowie County Historical Commission, compiled in 1976 as a Bi-Centennial Project, 1840-1876. In addition, I also ordered the 1995 and 1996 Funeral Lists and the 1865 Diary. I have also joined both societies and fully support their efforts. Folks, I do hope you will consider supporting these fine genealogical societies and perhaps even becoming a member. They provide a great service to all researchers of not only the families of Bowie County, but Bowie County itself and our memberships and funds we provide them by purchasing their books makes it possible for them to publish more research materials for us as their volunteers provide the work.
