(I am proud to say that Jason is from my neighborhood, and that I have known him since he started school. A senior at L.E., he deserves and works hard for any award he receives.) Students get DAR awards Jason Black of Liberty-Eylau High School was the overall winner in the Good Citizen contest sponsored by the Lone Star Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Black, son of Jerry and Jennifer Black, is automatically eligible for the Texas State competition. The other area winners were: Rachel Bayless of NAI Christian School, daughter of Dennis and Laurie Bayless; Ann White of Pleasant Grove High School, daughter of Stanley White; Jessica Smith of Redwater High School, daughter of Marsha Smith; and Brad Vinson of Texas High School, son of Jan and Eddie Vinson. The winners were announced at the George Washington Tea held in February. The Good Citizen contest, sponsored by DAR, encourages and rewards students who display qualities of exceptional citizenship.
