Alfred was born 1846 in England, came to America in about 1858. First lived in Minnesota and came to Wise Co. Texas between 1870-1880. He was found in Collin Co. in 1900 and Bowie Co. in 1910. He died in 1911 Mary Ellen Turner was his second wife. She was born in Bowie Co. in 1861, was found in Collin Co. in 1880 & 1900, back in Bowie Co. in 1910. She was a widow in 1920 and her youngest daughter Grace living with her in Bowie Co. She died in 1936 in Bowie County. Their children as I have been able to find through census study and cemetery listings in Bowie County are as follows: 1. Thomas F. born 1893 in Collin Co., married about 1915 to Loise unknown and had four children Abenell in 1915, Estelle in 1917, Genive in 1922 and Alfred in 1928. In 1930 census, I found him in Caddo Co., OK. 2. Margaret Ruth (Maggie) born in Bowie Co., married Jewell Albert Missildine in 1909 and had Bertie in 1911, Alford Thelma in 1913, Eva in 1917, Garland in 1918 and Mitchell Jewell in 1921. After Jewell died in 1921, Maggie married Moses A. Holt and had sons Norris and Lowell. She died in 1992. 3. Gertrude Capitola born in 1896, married Willie Irving Thompson in 1914 and had Irvin in 1917, Lorine in 1920 and Bonnie in 1924. She later married William Carl May. She died in 1929. 4. Chessie K. born in 1899 married Benjamin LaFayette Johnson and died in 1935. I have not been able to find further information on her. 5. Irene Ellen born in 1901 married Robert Wade Minter and had James Dewey in 1921 and Robert Wade in 1927 and two other infants who died. She died in Morris Co. TX in 1993 6. Grace Albina born 1903 married Loyd Leonard Corley in 1925 and had Erma Jean in 1928 and Michael Dan in 1939. She died in 1998 in Tyler, Smith Co. Alfred was my great grandfather. My grandmother, Mary Mildred (Mamie) was from his first wife’s family but she had great affection for her stepmother and her half brother and sisters. But I wasn’t aware of them until I began the study of genealogy and would like to make contact with members of this family. I plan to post this query in message boards of all the surnames listed above and hope to make a connection. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
