Hi folks, Here is a message I received today regarding the new options available for those using the GenConnect boards. If you have not used them, please visit the site below and discover new research tools and learn of the new options and how to use them. Jo A. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi, all- I have a couple announcements to make to the list subscribers since this list has been extremely quiet for quite some time. I want to make sure everyone is aware of the revised, updated, FAQs for using GenConnect: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/HINTS/userfaqs.html Everyone using the boards should familiarize themselves with the information in the FAQs. If you have problems using the boards that are not addressed in the User FAQs please let me know. Also, you may have noticed the new look on many of the RootsWeb pages with the masthead at the top that includes a tab to the "boards." This tab is a link to the newly designed GenConnect front page where you will find many snazzy new features. The two features you will notice immediately are the new Global Surname Search box and the new BoardFinder. Type in a surname and let GenConnect's Global Search engine find any messages that include this surname in the Surname field--on any board in the GenConnect system starting with the most recent messages. Use the BoardFinder to locate any Query Board in the system. There are three boxes for use with the BoardFinder. For Surname boards type the surname into the first box to be taken to the Query board for that surname. For US County boards type in the County name where indicated and select the state from the drop-down menu (box 2). Click to go to the Query board for that county. For International boards select the Country (box 3) from the menu--and where appropriate type in the specific regional board name (box 1). You can use the BoardFinder for Special Collections Query boards but you must know the specific board name to type into box 1. If you are unsure of a board name or the spelling of a board name, or if you are looking for a Non-query (document) board, use the links to the appropriate Index pages on the left side of the page.
