    1. [TXBOWIE] Fwd: R.W. Hooks
    2. Hi: This is a fwd. from Tim Bell, [email protected] Subj: R.W. Hooks Date: 11/17/00 6:14:58 AM Pacific Standard Time From:    [email protected] (dayna v bell) I was referred to you by Gloria Mayfield. She thought you might be able to help my search on Lieutenant-Colonel Robert W. Hooks. Hooks enlisted as Captain in Company K, 11th Texas Cavalry, CSA, from Bowie County. I believe his father, Warren Hooks, was the wealthiest man in that part of the country prior to the war. Hooks returned to Texas after the surrender, and was ostensibly killed in a sawmill explosion in Bowie County in 1870. I have heard there is a Hooks family cemetery, but have been unable to locate it thus far. Hooks also had a brother, Charles, that served in his company. I would appreciate any help you could provide, and would be willing to share what information I have on Co. K, 11th Texas Cavalry, if you're interested. Thanks, Tim Bell.
