She thought you might be able to help my search on Lieutenant-Colonel Robert W. Hooks. Hooks enlisted as Captain in Company K, 11th Texas Cavalry, CSA, from Bowie County. I believe his father, Warren Hooks, was the wealthiest man in that part of the country prior to the war. Hooks returned to Texas after the surrender, and was ostensibly killed in a sawmill explosion in Bowie County in 1870. I have heard there is a Hooks family cemetery, but have been unable to locate it thus far. Hooks also had a brother, Charles, that served in his company.
