I know there is a list with some info on the Bowie County site, but my question is - does anyone know if there are documents in relation to these deaths...I found an ancestor on this list, but can locate no death certificate, so wondered if there was more info on these records before making a trip to Texarkana. Hi Linda, I have encountered the same problem. My ancestor is listed among records at the Bowden Funeral Home, but no death certificate can be located through the state. My ancestors location of burial was also listed with the Funeral home, but when I walked the cemetery, no grave could be found. I know that the state of Texas began making it mandatory to file death certificates in 1903. My particular ancestor died in 1904, so I was real excited when I found this out. However, the state did not have a certificate on file. Some people complied and some did not. As far as his marker goes, it probably fell apart in time. Some stones last longer than others, depending on what it is made of. It could of just been a wooden marker.
