I was born in Malta .TX. in June 1924. My maternal grandparents lived just across the road from the Magnolia Cemetery. They were W. O. and Alice Palmer. They were old time settlers in the community. The church was also right next to the cemetery. My grandfather lead the singing on Sundays. They had four sons and two daughters. One of them being my mother. My parents and I and my sister , older than I lived in their house in the 30s.. I started to school at Highway School in 1930. We also lived in the Simms, Wards Creek area. I went to school at Wards Creek. One of my teachers was Morris Tidwell. Names I remember there were Barrets, Procters, Dillards, Hollingsworth, Hale, and I'm sure I could come up with more. I started high school in the fall of 1937 at New Boston High. Names that come to mind, Estes, Graham, LaRue, and I recall Leon Missildine the owner of the general store in New Boston. Many of my great uncles, grandparents, and cousins are buried in the cemetery at Magnolia.. I had a friend in high school ther e , last name Tyson. His father was a doctor think. One of my aunts was a nurse in Texarkana at the Michael Mayer hospital. I probably misspelled. An uncle retired from the Red River Arsenal. I still have some cousins living in the Hooks, Redwater area. We moved to El Paso after my half year at New Boston High. Have lived here ever since. with the exception of 4 years in the military in WW11. If I can be of any help with information I might have , will be happy to share with the group or individuals.
