Dr. Dan Bookout, author of "Search for the Lost Blacksheep," will be signing copies of his book from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sterling Crest Restaurant. (Other dates below) The book is about a pact made between four Texarkana men serving in World War II and how Bookout, a former Marine and pilot, later became an important element of the pact. The four young men had vowed that if something happened to one of them, the others would see that he was returned home. Three of the men made it back to *Texarkana safe, but one of them- * Lt. Wayland Edward Bennett, a Marine fighter pilot-remained behind with his lost plane that had crashed in the South Pacific jungles. The search for that plane and the effort to return Bennett's remains to his hometown is the focus of the story. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be contributed to veterans organizations. Bookout will also sign copies of his book from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Creative Writers League meeting at the YWCA. Future signings will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Dixie Diner in Nash and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at Books-A-Million.
