I could not find a Parker Thomas Burns listed in any of the recorded Bowie County cemeteries. There are several Burns listed at Woodmen and at Old DeKalb. Did P.T.B. have relatives here?

So you grandfather, Parker Burns, would have been buried there if he was buried in Dekalb. The Woodman Cemetery and the Dekalb (black) Cemetery and many other Bowie County Cemeteries are on line at http://www.rootsweb.com/~txgenweb/cindex.htm Select "B" and then Bowie County. The Old Dekalb Cemetery is not on line yet but I hope to have it posted soon.

My husband's grandfather, Parker Thomas Burns, is supposed to have died in August of 1911in Dekalb. He is supposed to be buried in Delalb. I believe the family story says he is in the Woodmen's Cemetery. The family was poor and there may be no marker. One of the problems in searching for information on this amily is that Parker died when all the children were very young. His wife, Melissa, died near Sherman only two years later and the children were parceled out to various families and to the orphanage in Waco. Anyway, if you could see if you could check for Parker Thomas Burns that would be very helpful to me. Thanks very much! Judy Burns Oklahoma City

I am very interested in your relation, as I am the unofficial historian of the old cemetery association. Also, our high school advanced placement history class does research on those buried in this cemetery and presents a program in the spring. Any information family members/interested parties might have would be appreciated. The oldest marked grave found is that of Oliver Wyse, died 1858.

DATE: Friday, 10 October 2003, at 1:49:54 p.m. My name is Margaret Pack. I am looking for any relatives of Ora or Charlie Lott. They are brother and sister. My grandmothers name is Mattie Augusta Dahl. Her mother was Ora. Ora was born around 1887 in Mississippi and died April 1912 in Dalby Springs, Texas. She has lost contact with that side of her family. She is 93 years old and before she leaves this earth, I would love to get her back in contact with any of her lost relatives on her mothers side. She has contact on her fathers side. His name was Milam Brown Proctor. We have been to several reunions on the Proctor side, but I so desperately want to find other relatives on my grandmothers mothers side. I know Ora Lott was half choctaw indian, because her mother was full blooded. I think her name was Mattie. I just want to make my grandmothers last days, something really to remember. She deserves that. Thank you for your time, Margaret silverbluemoon31@hotmail.com ***************************************************************************
