Mr. Shirley was born December 21,1918 to Thomas Smithson Shirley Jr. and Hattie Dora Smith Shirley, Bowie County Pioneers. He had been a Rancher, Farmer, owner of Texarkana Stockyards and Southern Packing Company, and developed Echo Hills housing addition. He was a member of Echo Hills Missionary Baptist Church, the Masons, and Hella Temple Knights Templar, and the Shriners. He was preceaded in death by his wife, Lela Shirley, December 10,2003. Survivors include his children, Sue and Tommy Goff and Rita and Danny Pessel; his grandchildren, Chuck and Mona Rampy, Connie and Don Gregory, Doug and Karen Rampy, Jason and Kathlene Goff, Pete and Donna Pessel, Cary and Kate Pessel, and Bob Pessel; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Kings Highway on Wednesday April 21,2004 at 12:00 n! oon with the Rev. Don Bowman and Rev. Roy Edwards officiating. Amos Pulce/Pulse, is buried near the back of the cemetery somewhere near the oak tree. I would like to at least put a marker up for I know he is in there. This is the cemetery listed on his death certificate in 1927. He died of Bright's disesase. I was in texarkana back in December and I visited out there and found the old oak tree, if it's the same one. Would you know if I could at least put up a marker somewhere out there for him? According to the listing for that cemetery, there is no Amos R. Pulse/Pulce buried in that Cemtery on anywhere is Bowie Co., He could be in an unmarked grave. The "community"of Antioch was basically a school district near Hooks, later consolidated with Hooks.

Bassett in October, 1843. T.J. Bassett and he also died in 1843. The John W. in the 1850 Census was his son, born 1836 and died in 1859. Thomas J., Jr. lived until 1871, Just guessing I would say that he was from TN, but I am not 100% sure. They are buried in the Bassett Cemetery.
