Has anyone had access to "The Index to the 1867 Voters' Registration of Texas" CD by Donaly E. Brice and John C. Barron and published by Heritage Books, Bowie MD for $32 + $4? Would like another TX researcher's opinion before I pursue a copy. I am wondering what counties are covered which was not mentioned when it was reviewed in "Genealogical Computing" Summer 2000. Heritage does have an 800 number (800-398-7709) where possibly more detail could be obtained. Appreciate any input re this resource. Shirley BOGART Harper (my STEWART ancestors were in Bowie County from the 1840s)

I just wanted to remind everyone about the Bible Records Publication... >From a collection of 30 years, the Texarkana Genealogy Society is putting together "all" of the Bible Records collected over the years into "one" publication. * Don't leave out your family... Have it included in this great book!!! Send your Bible Record Information to: Doris Lindblad = [email protected] or Vicki Richardson = [email protected] If you do not have time to type the information, a photo copy will be fine, and a postal address available on request. After publication, this book will be for sale, and there will also be copies donated to the local public libraries for researchers. So get your information in and be included! Thankyou, Vicki R.
I am researching the descendents of John J.(James?) Cox who moved to Texas from South Carolina. He is listed in the 1880 census with his wife Druczillia(Drucilla?) and son John Brooks Cox and daughter Lula J.(Jane?) Cox. His other sons were Henry and William. John Brooks married Lula Smith and was the father of James Henry . I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who is researching this line. thanks, Tammy Cox
Hi Folks, An Autrey cousin shared this tip on preservation of old newspaper articles with us on our AUTREY surname list. I thought perhaps it might be of interest to this list as well. Thanks, I have been given the location of Woodlawn as being located on the County Avenue side of Stateline Cemetery. Appreciate the assistance. Doris
There is a woodlawn cemetary in Harrison County. Not familiar with one in Bowie Janet
Is there a Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowie County? If so, where is it located? Thanks, Doris
Christine, My sister and I traveled extensively in Bowie Co. in June, and I see my sister must have our maps. But I am going to make a guess here and say that Nash is east of Hooks about 10 miles. I hope this helps.
