Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Bowie/10500 Surname: Wetz, Evans, Shelton, Harmon ------------------------- My father was born in Bowie County in 1924. His parents were Herbert William and Lizzie Evans Wetz. I can't seem to find any census records of my grandparents. I did find a marriage record (1922). I want to know when they came to Bowie County and from where. I have been told that the Wetz's traveled with Stephen F. Austin to Nacodoches and there they split up. One group went to west Texas and the other came north toward Bowie County. Can somebody help? Thanks a bunch.

Hello List folks, I am searching for a Daisy B. who married H.S.Dean and in 1899 they had an infant daughter named Gladys. Both mother and infant died in 1899. They are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery. Perhaps someone in your family tree had a sister named Daisy who died from complications of childbirth or disease and her child shortly thereafter. Thanks for all your good help, Kay Bradley
Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Bowie/499 Surname: Godwin ------------------------- I am looking for information on my husbands family. My husbands father was O.D. Godwin. He lived in Bowie Co. TX from 1920 ,when he got married, till 1933 or a few years after. He moved to Columbia Co. AR after his wife died in 1933. I believe his Father, Charlie Godwin ,was possibly from Bowie Co. also. My husband knows nothing about his Father's family except that his grandfathers name was Charlie. If anyone knows of any relatives of O.D. Godwin please let me know. They lived in the Eylau area which is South of Texarkana on highway 59. His wife and daughter, Ruth and Nora, are buried in the Eylau cemetery, and his son O.D. Jr. was born in Bowie Co. This is why I believe that O.D. Godwin Sr. family is from Bowie Co. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks Pat Godwin

Hi Tammy, Phoebe Elizabeth Stinson, b. 1895 was first married to Henry Stinson, son of Robert Owen Stinson, they had one daughyer, Eula Lee, Eula lived only a few months. Henry died and is buried in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Phoebe then married James "Jim" Rance Beasley, my husband's mother's Beasley family. Jim Beasley was the father of Joseph Leablon Beasley, married to Lottie Ritchey, who gave me much of the information I have on the Beasley family, including Phoebe. We have many Stinson/Beasley relatives in the county, especially those descended from Jim Beasley and Phoebe Stinson. Their daughter, Betty Delorres, is still living as is other family members. Williamson, Tenn. is listed throughout the book on many of the early Stinson family members. There is much information on the Stinson families of Bowie County in a book, "Our Stinson's, Ulery and Edna Stinson, printed in 1981 by Ulery, Edna and Ronald Stinson, 1015 South Main Street, Columbia, Tenn. 38401. Ronald Stinson was living at this residence the last time I called him. For more information on the availability of this book, he can be reached at: 931-364-7774. This is a hardbound book, 520 pages. I purchased mine in 1990, the last I heard there were a few left. I have also heard since there another book was being considered, but havne't been notified of anything lately on the topic. Three are 117 "James" Stinson, no Neelia Reed listed. If you can give me more information, I'll be glad to check for your James Stinson. On page 19: Joseph "Joe" Henry Stinson, son of Elisha John Stinson and Mary Agnes Hendricks, was b. 3 Nov. 1862, probably in Williamson Co., Tenn; d. 3 Feb 1915, Bowie Co. Texas; bur. Rock Creek Cem. see your Stinsons are listed as coming from Franklin, Tennesee. The Scocial Security applications I have been able to get list Franklin, Texas in Williamson co. as the birthplace prior to 1900. James Stinson. The Ruby Lee Stinson in the picture of Sand Hill School is my husband's Grandmother. She is the daughter of James Stinson and Neelia Reed. But I have had trouble connecting all the Stinsons in the area. ========== Having said that. I pulled my files and rechecked the copies. What I took for Texas , looks more like Tennesee. Joe Henry Stinson married to Martha Anne Green had son named Joseph Robert Stinson born 1/12/1891. Roxie Zine Nash is listed as the wife of Joseph Robert Stinson. Is this your same group of Stinson's ?

Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Bowie/535 Surname: Taylor ------------------------- I am looking for information on my father's side of the family. My mother and he separated before I was born, so I know practically nothing. His name was Charles Ray Taylor and came from Texarkana, Bowie County, TX. He was stationed in the NAVY in San Diego on a Submarine, when he and my mother were together. I believe he retired from the Navy and then worked around Texarkana, possibly in the Hospital there. He married several times and has another son by the name of Charles Taylor as well as myself, and also has twins I think. In my research I have found one Charles Taylor from Texarkana, that was born Feb. 08.1923, whose father was Henry L.Taylor and mother was Emma Ollie King. They had several other sons, one who may be a John Taylor and I believe at least 1 daughter. Checking Rootsweb SSDI records I believe this Charles Taylor died June 12, 1998. If in fact, this person is my father, I would like to have these facts validated. I am doing genealogy research for my family's information, but I would like to meet any step relatives if they want to meet with me. If not I will settle for the information.
Good morning Bowie list people, I have an obit saying my gggrandfather was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. His obit is from Texarkana dated 1917. Is there a Rose Hill cemetery there? He was originally from Georgia and I have found there is a Rose Hill cemetery in Georgia as well. Several people who do look ups have told me he is not in any of the cemetery books for Texarkana. His wife died in 1930 and I would imagine she is buried next to him. I could not find this cemetery on the list at the website. Funeral home records say a Mrs. Dean was disinterred. Could there be a Rose Hill in nearby Arkansas? The Dean family had a farm in Ashdown,ARK. Searching for burial sites of William Henry DEAN and Sophia Hynson DEAN. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Kay Bradley
Anyone have any information on Thomas Briggs Moores, 1820-1852, who is buried in Harrison Chapel Cemetery, Texarkana, Bowie Co., TX? Would like to learn more about him. Thanks, Sallie
