    3. Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Bowie/10535 Surname: Byrd ------------------------- Could someone please look up a George E Byrd on the 1890 Bowie Co. census for me. He is one of my brickwalls. My grandfather John Leonard Byrd was born in Bowie Co. 1890, so I am hoping his family is on the census. I could really use some help if anyone is able to get me all of the info for this family. Thank you, your help will be greatly appreciated. [email protected] (Gwen Byrd Perkins)

    3. This is off the subject - Does anyone know my cousin in Malta, TX: Ima Faye (Davis) Russell? ------------- My family would have been in the Avery, TX area at least from 1907 to 1915. That is the years of my father's and three of his siblings' birth. Someone from the Red River Co. list suggested that they may have lived in Bowie Co. and that I place this on the their list which I am doing. According to what was provided me, these were born in Avery, TX: Gay Harold POOL - 13 Feb 1907 (My father) Willie Granville POOL - 16 Mar 1909 O. G. POOL - 26 Mar 1913 - Some say he only had initials?? Minnie Irine POOL - 24 Feb 1915 My father's older siblings were born in Ft Smith and Mansfield, AR: John Newman POOL - 5 May 1894/6? Loreve POOL - 28 Nov 1897 Bessie Lee POOL - 14 Feb 1901 Earl POOL - 29 Nov 1903 Pearl POOL - 29 Nov 1903 Their parents were in the below 1900 census. So, they would not be in Red River Co. then. However, they would have been in the 1910 and possibly the 1920 census. 1900 Scott Co., AR, Lewis Twp., ED 114, pg. 6, census 12 June 1900 Oliver Green POOL 12 Oct 1872 Minnie Lee (NEVILL) POOL 6 June 1877 John Newman POOL 5 May 1894/6 Loaver POOL 28 Nov 1897 I hope you can come up with something on them. 3. Bobby remembers this story from when he was young. he doesn't know that there was ever any proof but there was a hospital somehow involved in the story. Maybe someone locally knows about an old hospital closed down just after 1900 near the area. thanks, Tammy Cox -----Original Message----- From: Daniel R. The graves are unmarked but I have been told that they are located near the existing flag pole.

    2. Carla Martin Maddux
    3. Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Bowie/10534 Surname: Martin, Wilson, Cowley, Woodard ------------------------- I have found John Wesley Martin and his sister, Etta Josephine Martin on both the 1850 and 1860 Bowie Co. census. In 1850, they appear as John W. and Henretta J. Wilson, with a possible younger brother shown as William Delaney Wilson, they were living with a Francis Wilson, 35, TN. On the 1860 census, they are listed as John W. Martin and Harriett Martin, and William L. Wilson and are living with James and Maria Cowley's family as farm laborers. I can only assume their parents are deceased, most likely having died after 1845, when William was born in LA. I am still unable to locate any parents names for them. The 1900 and 1920 census shows John Wesley's son, William Joseph Martin living in Bowie County, with a wife named Vivien, and two daughters, Annie and Vivien (on the 1920 census). Does anyone have any information on these Martins, Wilsons or Cowleys?? Thanks.

    3. Hello list: Last evening I followed the instructions for going to [email protected] rootsweb and accessing my complete list membership from them and then I proceeded to unsubscribe from several of the lists. This morning I awoke with 41 emails/SPAM from the same source. I have been dealing with this all day. I have sent mail to my ISP/Earthlink and they are supposedly dealing with it. I have an anti spam filter in place and this NEVER happens to me. I have now sent letters to the support address on many of these ISP's explaining this mail did not originate with me, I have no knowledge of it, I did not solicit it or send it. I have sent mail to [email protected] which is the ISP source this mail supposedly originated from. Of course, I asked to be unsubscribed immediately-to no avail. The mail comes back to me with me as the sender as undeliverable... I am in overload and do not know what else to do. Be careful out there people-this is a headache I wouldn't wish on anyone. 3. Posted on: Bowie County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Bowie/10532 Surname: TIDWELL, BLOXHAM ------------------------- Looked up Lea Ona on the 1920 Stephens co, OK, census, and it says her parents were both born in Missouri. She still might be distant kin to the Tidwells in Bowie county, but she is probably not from Levi Tidwell's line, since all the boys in his line were born in Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia. Lea was born around 1875 in Texas, but when I checked the index for the 1880 census, I found dozens of Tidwells living all over Texas. Your only recourse is to visit your library and look all of those Tidwells up, find a husband & wife born in Missouri with a daughter named Lea or Lee who is about 5 years old, and you have your people. --Jim Maroon [email protected]

If you send for the Social Security application, it is a copy of what J.B. filled out, and it will have his parents' names if he knew them. Hope this helps. Karen

When did they move to IT? Have you checked the 1900, 1910, & 1920 census records? Since I live in IT now, my library has all of the soundex and census records for those periods. That will tell us when she was born, and where her parents were born, which could help determine whether or not she was from Levi Tidwell's folks. We could then go back and try to find her in the appropriate TX census records. --Jim Maroon [email protected]

The recent mention of the old Reed Cemetery peaked my interest. If this cemetery is part of the Red River Arsenal-I am wondering if it could indeed be a possibility. Thanks anyone for helping.
