    1. [TXBOSQUE] UPDATES
    2. Bosque Lover
    3. Hi all, I have finally gotten several new photos online. We could use some help in identifying many of those. Even if these folks are not related to you, take a look. Old photos are just the neatest things, don't you think? There is also a write up about a Bailey Reunion. It's in the "Letters" sections. I added some more Officials, & Settlers--lucky folks to have live in our Beautiful Bosque!!! Then there are also a good many photos added to Cedron Cemetery. Poor old Rebecca wasn't feeling too good, but managed to send them to me anyway! Now, about that surprise. We're supposed to be getting the 1900 census images, but don't know when they will be in! Thank you all for helping making our site what it is today!! The server replacement may impact people's ability to log into the Message Boards. If all goes as planned, we expect the Message Boards to be back at peak performance by mid-afternoon (Mountain Daylight Time). Thought ya'll would want to know. 3. Hi, Pat............... I would think that if they are available, voter reg for those dates might be available on the county level.........two sources you could inquire re this: County Clerk Brigitte Bronstad P.O. Box 617 Meridian, Texas 76665 254/435-2201 Fax 254/435-2152 bosquecountyclerk@htcomp.net The Bosque Co Collection P.O. Box 534, Meridian TX 76665 Telephone: (254) 435-6182 Fax: (254) 435-2272 E-mail: bosquecountycollection@htcomp.net I do know that this type of record can reveal wonderful info.........I learned so much about my LOADERs from the 1867 Voter Reg List, and I would recommend it to anyone, regardless of county...........if interested, it can be obtained thru interlibrary loan...... http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/votersreg.html Bosque County Records Available on Microfilm from Baylor University Please note that microfilmed records are available for loan to libraries only, not to individuals. Contact your local library to arrange an interlibrary loan of the material you wish to borrow. Your request should include the specific reel numbers for the microfilm you wish to use, as well as the name of the county and lending institution. Baylor University Linda Gradel Texas Collection Baylor University B.U. Box 97142 Waco, TX 76798-7142 254-710-6035 Counties housed: Bell, Bosque, Burnet, Coryell, Falls, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Limestone, McLennan, Williamson Bosque Co, Reel VR-2 VOTERS' REGISTRATION: 1867 The Reconstruction Act of March 13, 1867 required the commanding officer in each military district to have, before September 1, a registration of all qualified voters in each county. These lists would be used to determine all who would be eligible to vote for any proposed Constitutional Convention in the state. The registrant had to take an oath stating that he was not disqualified by law from voting. Those ineligible included Confederate veterans with a rank of major or above; any person who had previously taken an oath as a member of Congress, as an officer of the United States, as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, and who later engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or gave aid or comfort to the enemies thereof, and whose "disability" had not been removed by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress. Local military authorities often interpreted this prohibition to include anyone who held any type of office or who in any way benefited from either Confederate state or federal government patronage, thereby preventing a number of otherwise eligible citizens from voting. The 1867 Voter Registration includes names of voters who registered in the period between 1867 and 1869. A few entries date from 1870, but these occur infrequently. The Register entry includes the following information: Name Place of residence Precinct Length of residence (in state, in county, in precinct) Native country or state If naturalized, how, when, and where "General Remarks"--race is noted when the registrant was "colored." Ledger entries are grouped by county, and the names are listed chronologically in the order individuals presented themselves for registration. Although some Voters' Registration lists appear in the Election Returns series of Secretary of State records, this group of ledgers contains the State Archives's only comprehensive listing of eligible voters in the state. The original volumes have been microfilmed, and the film copies are available to be viewed at the Library, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. They may be requested on interlibrary loan. Good luck, Pat! 1. RE: [TXBOSQUE] HELP
    2. Being practically full time RV'ers, Jim and I looked up places in the Trailer Life Campground directory. Jefferson is just north of Marshall in "deep east" Texas. I'd camp in Tyler. There's Staway Ranch RV Park and Whispering Pines RV Resort. Whispering Pines is rated 7.5/8.5/8 out of 10, which is a pretty good rating and is the higher rated of the two. Tyler is about 60 miles from Jefferson. Jefferson has four Core of Engineer campgrounds, but aren't rated, so I cannot recommend them. Or another consideration is Texarkana, but that's pretty far, too. As is Nacogdoches...but both have fairly good campgrounds. There's always "Camp Walmart"..which is free, but if you have slideouts, you can't use them. Just ask permission of the manager. Sincerely... BTW - I would be interested in knowing from which website's 'recovery' instructions you were able to retrieve your deleted files. Another thing, if Pat's file recovery attempt has not been successful, you might advise her/him of the steps you took to recover your deleted files. 3. Pat - Below is a copy of a msg I copied from a 'newsgroup' website, which further expounds on the info on the Eric Miller website 'link' I sent you previously. This msg clarifies the difference in OE 4.x & OE 5.x/OE 6.x mail file nomenclature. I am not familiar with the two links in this msg, but they might be worth checking out, also. ======================================================== Subject: Re: lost e-mail? Attachments: None From: "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@prodigy.net> Sent: 4/13/2002 4:01:51 PM The MBX files are from OE4. If you were recently using OE5, you want to find the *.DBX files. Normally on upgrade, your old mail is automatically imported. Sometimes this fails and you need to do a manual import (File, Import). If you were previously using OE5, select OE6 as the import type since OE5 and OE6 use the same file formats. For more information, see: Backing Up, Recovering and Restoring OE5/6 Files and Settings http://chattanooga.net/~scochran/backup.htm http://www.tomsterdam.com/insideOE/backup/index.htm -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm Michal wrote in message <225601c1e324$9c35bda0$19ef2ecf@tkmsftngxa01>... >I upgraded my ouutlook express from v.5 to v.6 after >upgrading, I lost all my old e-mails and sub-directories. >is this recoverable? i found few files that seem to be >those lost mails, with the suffix *.mbx - with what >application can it be opened? > >thanx in advance >Michal > ======================================================== I cut & pasted the above from this website: http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?ICP=GSS3&NewsGroup=micr osoft.public.internet.mail&SLCID=US&scrollnews=m1s4s2s1 which is a MS Internet Mail 'Newsgroup' website. One thing I seem to remember Re recovering files is: DO NOT compact your mail files, if you intend to try to recover the lost ones. Further, I think that means DO NOT shutdown your computer, as I believe that OE sometimes performs a 'file compression' on the mail files when the computer is shutdown. 3. Pat - Here is a website that has instructions for recovering mail files. http://www.okinfoweb.com/moe/mail/mail_016.htm It is an old website, and lots of the info was developed for OE 4.x. However, I have found that a lot if it still applies to OE 5.x. I'm not sure about OE 6.x, but it might beworth a try. It does take a lot of time & patience to recover 'lost' or 'deleted' files, but it can often be done using these instructions.
