    3. Clifton Record May 28, 2002 Supporters Seek Help In Saving Historic Coon Creek School Building THE HISTORIC COON CREEK SCHOOL BUILDING, used as a community center since 1944, is in danger of collapsing if renovations are not made. Coon Creek residents are seeking funds to help fund a restoration of the structure. Enlarge this photo... LAGUNA PARK — Members of the Coon Creek Good Neighbor Club are soliciting funds to help preserve the historic Coon Creek School building, located on Farm Road 56 approximately two miles south of Laguna Park. In use as a school from 1929 through 1944, the building since has been utilized by area residents as a community center. “After the school closed, Coon Creek residents bought the building, and our ladies’ club, known as the Coon Creek Good Neighbor Club, has maintained it,” said club member Mary Gouldman Kleypas. “The building, a Coon Creek community landmark, is now in great danger of collapsing if extensive work is not done on it.” Built in 1929, the building was used for classes until the school consolidated with the Clifton school district in 1944. The 73-year-old, three-room building, housed classes from grades one through 10. Few buildings of its type remain standing, Kleypas noted. “We are sure those who have ties to Coon Creek will want to help save the old school building. Thank you in advance for your help,” Kleypas concluded. Donations can be submitted to Coon Creek Good Neighbor Club, c/o Mary Gouldman Kleypas, P.O. Box 5507, Laguna Park, TX 76644-5507. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

We, Gramdma and Grandpa, are off Monday to Colorado Springs for our oldest grandsons graduation from the Air Force Academy. He was one of the youngest candidates accepted to the Academy four years ago. He was one of the smallest, physically, in his class. He will be graduating in the top 10% of his class, has applied and been accepted to Pilot Training School. He had worked very hard and has made us very proud. All this and he was home schooled... Is our education system in trouble or not? Glen OKC -- --------------A4861C17FCED75562AFA7A03--
