Linda, I really like GENCIRCLES, also.....I agree, their search engine is good and the feature for trees containing same or similar names is really nice.....GENCIRCLES doesn't have the volume, yet, that ROOTSWEB WORLD CONNECT has, but is a great supplement to it, especially considering it has some variations....and, we know, with this "rootsdigging" game, we need all the little helpers we can find! : ) Suzy ~ What we do in life echoes in eternity ~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Baker" <ndnblu@texoma.net> To: <TXBOSQUE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 16, 2002 10:26 PM Subject: Re: [TXBOSQUE] favorite web site One of mine is www.gencircles.com It has a good search engine where you can add the mother's, father's or spouse's name as well. Hi all, There's a new list that just started that may be of interest to you all. Have fun, Bettie <>< The ORPHAN-TRAINS Discussion List is for the discussion of the ORPHAN TRAINS that carried thousands of children to new homes in any and all states and anything pertaining to them covering the time periods of 1850's to 1930. Discussions pertaining to anything related to these children, circumstances, finding their families, history of these trains, etc. are encouraged. To join ORPHAN-TRAINS-L, send mail to ORPHAN-TRAINS-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body. It is not necessary to subscribe in both modes. To join ORPHAN-TRAINS-D, do the same thing with ORPHAN-TRAINS-D-request@rootsweb.com There is an ORPHAN-TRAINS List home page where you can review the list rules and guidelines and find links to related sites. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishrose/orphan-trains-l.htm

That's okay Judy, just curious. There are so many Davis' and there probably isn't any connection. Thanks, Bernie
Dear Bernie, My husband Ronald Lee Davis' grandfather was Charles E. Davis b. 1898 d. 1983, and came from Little Orleans, Allegheny County, MD. but the family is found also in Buck Valley, Fulton County, PA. He has several remote cousins living in MI now. I don't know if any of the family came to Arkansas or not. I can try to find out for you. I don't have a lot of information on the Davis family, but my mother-in-law has quite a lot, so she may be able to advise me on this. Judy Davis
Judy, where did your Davis' come from? Mine came from Ouachita County, AR. My grandfather was a Davis (James Jefferson Davis). Bernie Alsup
Dear Friends, I want to thank all of you for your immediate response and great ideas. I may try or use all of them. I really appreciate the fact that you all care so much and are so willing to help a fellow researcher. Have a great day! Judy
A couple of years ago somebody sent me some information about preserving newspaper clippings. There is a liquid solution you can use. Try your search engine "preserving old papers....or old newspapers." I have lost the information and never used it. Also, when and if you copy the material on a machine, you should use acid-free paper. :-)
The recipe I have: Deacidfication Spray or Dip...... Mix 2 Tbsp Milk of Magnesia with 1 quart Club Soda.... Refrigerate overnite before using..... Dip or spray item, then let sit for about 1 hour..... Carefully place item on soft towel to dry....... There is also a commercial spray called Archival Mist....have not tried it, tho....it is pricey, but I am sure it works great...... Good luck! You can at least save the info by making copies of them on a copy machine. I copy everything I have that is old so I can save the info. They have PC copiers now ( I have one) so you can work right at home. Reecie
