May Good was a daughter of Margaret Weeks and Liverton Good. Margaret and Liverton were married 22 May 1881 in Washington Co., Arkansas. Margaret Weeks was a daughter of John Weeks and Susan Huff. Her brother was Matthew Weeks of Bosque Co. (Matthew is buried in the Hico Cemetery in Hico.) Her sister was Carrie Ann Weeks who was the first wife of David Hezekiah Appleby (Carrie Ann and David are buried in the Riverside Cemetery.) Margaret and Carrie's half brother was Asbury Evans Weeks who was married to David's sister, Margaret Jane (Maggie) Appleby. Asbury and Margaret are also buried in the Riverside Cemetery. I would appreciate any information that anyone has to share on the family of Sam Sanders and May Good.

Stella is listed and was born about 1904 (she is age 6 in the census). George and Lydia are living next to Lydia's parents. Contact me directly and I can give you some more information on Stella's ancestors. Bruce Wiland

Wood, son of Francis Marion Wood and Minerva Jane Gorman, married Lydia Glass, daughter of William M. Glass and Mary Jane LaFon, in 1893 in Bosque County. They appear in the 1900 Bosque census with three children: Florence M., James W., and Myrtle M. Mary Minerva, another child of George Wood by his first marriage, had died in 1898 and is buried in Acuff Cemetery in Bosque County. There is no Stella listed in the 1900 census, so if she was the daughter of this couple, she was probably born in late 1900 or after. There is no George Wood in the 1910 Bosque census. Do you have any idea where your George Wood and Lydia were located at the time of the 1910 census? Were they in Texas? Do you know where Stella was born? Bruce Wiland
Old divorce are kept at the courthouses in Texas same as the old marriage records. Or at lest they were when I was doing some research on them. In Bosque County they are kept up stairs in vault you just have to go ask to see them. I am not sure how far back they go. Wish I could help but right now an unable to do much research. Christine Neal
This will not be of help for the divorce that far back. However, for those seeking info on Texas Divorces from 1968 - 2002 Go to: http://www.genlookups.com/texas_divorces/ There you will find a search engine for these divorces. The search engine for Texas Marriages 1968 - 2002 can be found at: http://www.genlookups.com/texas_marriages/ You might have to write to the county clerk of Bosque, Bell, etc. and ask that they check their old records. Not sure they were required to file these with Austin's records. Divorce was kept quiet in every family back then. My g grandmother divorced in the late 1800's also. I think you would have to go to the State of Texas Vital records dept to get information. The laws back then were pretty muchly this: Divorce was permissible on several grounds, including adultery, long absence, and cruelty.
I just recently learned that my great-granparents, Lars and Marte Cristine Colwick Corneliussen, were divorced about 1889. It was kept quiet in my family, but I would like to find out more about the reason for the divorce. How can I find the divorce records, living in Calif. as I do? Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for assistance. Bruce Wiland actually found out that Lars did not die in 1889, but was divorced and living in Waco in 1900. He then did more research and found Lars's burial record in 1914 in the First Street Cemetery. So my great-aunt made up the story about Lars dying in 1889 in order to cover up the divorce. Goodness! I wonder if someone in Bosque County can help me find a death record of my great-granfather, Lars Christian Corneliussen. He and his wife, Matre Cristine Colwick, lived in Norse after they emigrated to the US about 1882. According to his daughter, Bessie, he died before Bessie was born Nov. 29, 1889. Marte, who lived intil 1926, is listed in the death records of Trinity Lutheran Church, so I suppose Lars would be, too. I would appreciate any assistance on this. If there is a place I can write, or look up, please let me know. Charnee Smit
Hello all! If any of you come across any info/news clips on this I hope you'll share w/me. I can find nothing on it. I was only 16 yrs old when my father was shot at the Country Music Ranch north of Walnut Springs. It's like pulling teeth dealing w/the Bosque Cty Sher. Ofc to get records. Denny Proffitt was sherriff/investigator at the time. Texas Rangers investigated as well, and I had no trouble getting their records...The sherriff's dept has put me off for over a year. Anyway, his name was Jack D. Stanfield & the shooter was Oscar Burton (Jake) Doggett and the owner of the ranch is Christine Boenig. If you can help, I would appreciate it. In 1910, Susan (Huff) Weeks was living with her daughter, Carrie Ann (Weeks) Appleby, and son-in-law, David Hezekiah Appleby. The census record shows Susan to be 82 years old at the time. David and Carrie Ann are buried in the Riverside Cemetery. Does anyone know when Susan died and where she is buried? Susan was also the mother of Matthew Weeks who lived in Bosque Co. and is buried in the Hico Cemetery. In addition, Susan was the step-mother of Asbury Evans Weeks also of Bosque Co. Asbury Weeks was married to Margaret Jane Appleby who was a sister of David Hezekiah Appleby. Asbury and Margaret (aka Maggie) are buried in the Riverside Cemetery. Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, TX
Andrew H. Boykin/Boycan married Ethel Appleby, daughter of David Hezekiah Appleby and Carrie Ann Weeks, in Bosque Co. in 1903. Census records show the name spelled as Boykin or Boycan. Can someone tell me which is correct? Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, Texas
I'm doing work on the line of Willis Jasper Bankston, of Walnut Springs. I'm interested in what cemetery he may be buried in, most likely somewhere in or around that town. Also, what his wife's name is. From various census records, it looks like her name is Berthena. Willis servred with the CSA in 1st GA Calvary and 25th GA Infantry Co. D. (CSA Pension # 25973) His parent's were John Thomas (Jr.) Bankston and Wylie Johnson (buried in Friendship Primitive Bapt. > Ancestry is NOT charging to access the Family Trees information. This remains exactly as it was all along. Thing is, they didn't say this until AFTER the uproar over selling submitted well documented or not info. Some trust Ancestry, some don't. It up to individual researchers what they wish to pay for, & should be up to the submitters whether their info "sold" or not.
